He didn't drop his hands and square up as much when he did his own rope a dope after Ike cracked him.

It probably contributed greatly to him surviving Tua.

It's interesting to think how far ike could have gone had he remained sane.

Right, he never again, until Wlad fought anyone as dangerous as Ike, and Wlad was able to deck him in both of their encounters. I'm not sure of the timeline of when Ike got into trouble and got locked up, and whether or not Byrd could have tried to rematch Ike and atone for the ko defeat like Young did vs Shavers. Byrd never had the chin that Young had, and when you got past his defenses and cracked him he didn't fare as well as Young, such as when Foreman cracked him in the 7th in San Juan. When did Byrd ever have to survive a crisis as that? Remember too that the Shavers ko came in Young's 11th pro fight and after being decked in the draw rematch with Earnie he was never floored again in his career, and never came close to going down even against Cooney. Both Shavers and Foreman were bigger punchers than Ike, of course. That 7th round bomb of Foreman's would have finished off Byrd, and Cooney would have put him to sleep.

Byrd was down twice against Wlad in their first meeting.

Despite being totally overmatched he still managed to go the full distance.

Actually, Byrd was pretty good at that time too. Ike was a ****ing wrecking machine.

The Holy that Byrd outpointed was a punching bag by that stage.

He also took good shots from Tua.

Oh, I remember when Power Puncher argued Tua never hit Byrd flush with the left hook. I than posted a video and time of Tua hitting him with the left hook. Good times.

I'd like to see ike vs ray.

I'm not sure i'd call ike more dangerous than vitali though. Him and tua fought a very even fight so i'm not sure i'd call him more dangerous than tua neither.

Young beat the better names but I think byrd had the better career.

What about the fact that Ike's two wins are better than anything Vitali's done?

And Ike crushed the fighter against whom Vitali suffered his first defeat.
