Hendo wants a fight, and he doesn't think there's anyone worth fighting at lhw just now as he and Rashad are the only two top contenders, what with Shogun and Machida coming off losses, and Rampage tied up with the Bader fight and Gustafsson tied up with the L'il Nog fight. He says he's up for a heavyweight fight while he waits for the Jones-Evans fight to be over. I can't really see anyone in the UFC heavyweight division who'd be a more suitable opponent for Hendo than Roy Nelson, if Nelson has time for his cut to heal by April. Hendo is 5ft 11in with a 71in reach, Nelson is 6ft with a 73in reach. Both have amazing chins, big punches, and suspect gas tanks. I don't see the point in giving Hendo to someone the size of Fabricio Werdum or Shane Carwin or Bigfoot Silva. Maybe Pat Barry is an option as well. Nelson/Hendo would be a damn good fight, if a little rough for Nelson. He's already struggling to stay relevant at HW, and a loss to Henderson at this point would pretty much finish him off. But then I can't really think of anyone else at HW who would make an interesting fight that isn't already tied up. Maybe Kongo/Hunt.
There really isn't anyone at lhw that it makes sense for him to fight now though. Unless they'd maybe offer Bisping or Belfort the chance to try and avenge their losses to Hendo in a one-off fight at 205?
Naw - surely the UFC wouldn't waste all of Hendo's heat with an inconsequential fight like this. Sadly though he does seem the odd man out at present.
True, I know he wants to stay active but should he lose a fight in the interim that would basically cleanout the LHW division by default.
