He did beat Vitali! And I do think he retired because of him. But I can't see how this reflects badly on Lewis, I really can't. People can go on and on about how he robbed the sport of a legitimate rematch, but I don't see it that way. Although I would have loved to see it, I can't fault him for calling a stop to his career at the right moment. He's the smart man, you know...

I agree 100%, he did the right thing for him, and that is what he should do! I admire him for stopping on the top instead of keep on going until it eventually end in a devastating defeat as so many greats have done :/

As you say, you think he retired because of Klitschko, and so do I, but I don't blame him not at all.

He did the right thing. He didn't have a snowman's chance in hell against Vitali in the rematch and he knew it.

So what if he had to break his promise and back out on his word? At least he inspired a miniature army of ******s cut/pasting tko6 in every thread.

In United Kingdumb they can enjoy rain, clouds ,beer and ugly british women ,they can also watch slow paced gay game called cricket or england lose another soccer match , but they chose to copy/paste lewis tko6. They are britards !

Lewis did well to get a win out of that fight, and on paper it may be his best. I think he probably realised, whether he won the rematch or not, that the time was up for the great 90s heavyweights. It'll happen to Wladimir in the next few years

Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night. Angelo Dundee was a great cut man as well as a trainer. All Vitali needed was one more round and he would have knocked Lewis out. Lewis had to hold on to Vitali to keep from going down, he was out on his feet and had a very badly broken nose..............
