Ward has only been champion since 2009, but he is the unified WBC,WBA and Ring Mag champion and the S6 trophy holder. He's got both Showtime and HBO pulling on him because there is a massive hunger for a new American fighter going up there in the P4P rankings and he's an obvious prospect for future P4P #1.


Kessler,Abraham,Froch and Bute have all earned good money, but Ward will earn more than all of them at the end of the day. He's only starting, they're all at the end of their roads, they're all in their 30s, he's young, fresh and THE CHAMP.

Now, as for Bute haters, they are no worst nor better than any other haters.

Their guarantee purse was the same as every other fighter, more or less. But they were weaseling money out of German/Danish TV, some of Kesslers fights were on PPV in denmark if Im not mistaken.

He was reported making upwards of 20 million DKR for one of his recent fights, which equates to $3m. That is ofcourse, counting all the PPV revenue and other TV networks money. (Although thats only a rumour)

He's obviously making the most money out of all SMWs though, but with that said, he's on his last leg.

Do I need to repeat myself? Young, slick, talented and the unified WBC,WBA, Ring Mag and S6 trophy champion. He's got some future ahead of him with HBO and SHO battling for him.

 

Good shout with AA i forgot him! Ward will never draw a lot! Boxing is dying in the states and Ward doesn't have the more pleasing style for nonboxing fans and only hard-core fans will pay to see him and appreciate his boxing!

 

Is that why boxing consistently makes PPV numbers of over 1 million, twice or more every year, with the biggest money being handed out to the fighters who are fighting in the US?

If boxing was dying in the states, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather wouldn't make $20m per fight.

 

S6 was the single most evolutionary move by Showtime. They also put on the bantamweight tournament whilst the SMW tournament was ongoing.

For sure it was created to make a star. I hope Ward stays with Showtime and stays devoted to the people who gave him a chance to prove his skills. HBO has more money options, however.. but I hope Showtime gets to have Andre Ward. They deserve it.
