He is a very good boxer with good power, I think he is much better boxer than Gomez(another Cuban CW that defended his crown 10 times, never loss the belt) at the same stage...
Agreed, from the little I saw of Gomez he never seemed to get rid of that amateur style, as evidenced in his fight against the Turk Sinal Sam (or something along them lines)
I think most would agree he's skillful and amongst the top in the division. At the same time, I think they would also agree he's a bit of a front-runner and a terrible finisher. He also has a tendency to be really apprehensive and seemingly isn't aware of how much power he packs.
He's got good power but huge stamina issues. His stamina is what will eventually cost him. His wins over Cunningham, especially the re-match, is an awesome way to begin a title reign / legacy. As for the negatives, he's the worst of the Ring champions at the moment, and call me crazy, even straight ******ed, but I'd pick Krystof, Cunningham III, Lebedev, and Huck to beat him H2H.
i believe Gomez was way more solid with better fundamentals, power and stamina. The problem with Gomez was discipline but he dominated CW very easy, but the guy loved to have fun and skipping training every time possible. Hernandez looks solid but i dont think he will dominate for too long.Still i believe he beats Lebedev,Jones and even Huck if coming back to CW.
No no no :good YPH is big, pretty quick, good power, good counter puncher and all around pretty skilled. His chin doesnt seem too great and his stamina, mental toughness, and ability to implement a gameplan for a full 36 minutes all seem to be weaknesses too.
He is a good fighter but from his rematch with Cunningham I wonder how good he really is. I rate Cunningham quite highly so I guess I should give Hernandez his props but him being much younger and supposingly hungrier was not on display. It was a clear but tight win against a very determined veteran. While watching the fight I thought: Adamek would have beaten him, same goes for Mormeck, Haye, even the version of Bell that beat Mormeck would win. I stopped before going all the way back to Holyfield. Seriously he might be the king of the division right now but if he intends to stay there he will have to work hard. At least that should give us some exciting fights!
How does Troy Ross do against him? He was beating cunningham in their fight and even knocked him down before that thumb in the eye. Looks like thats the next fight they have lined up.
Pretty good, not perfect but good D, nice power, accurate punchers issue- bad finisher, had USS done and could not get him out
The second going with Cunnigham answered some questions for me. He's still gotta work on some conditioning, and i think he's starting to rely a lot more on his power now, which is not always the best thing to do.
