What sort of money are we talking here? Surely if Sky wanted to they could of blown Boxnation out the water so it must just be out of principle that Sky aren't prepared to pay what they see as stupid money for rights to the fight. Sky must of been interested in the rights to show this fight so it must just be out of principle that they've allowed Boxnation to win the rights to show the fight.

It has a make or break feel to it. But these kind of fights with a Mayweather 'name' in it can work on a ppv basis with people purchasing the event off the cuff after a few sherberts on a saturday nite, altho with no British fighter involved the likely 5am Vegas fight time would count against it anyway. A monthly subscription is a different thing though - Setanta struggled and they had Premier league footy too. And the boxing hardcore will have already made up their minds about boxnation. Will inevitably be viewed in hindsight as pissing money upagainst the wall, but they've got themselves into a hole so may as well keep digging now.

Setanta struggled because the premier league football was so expensive. They also paid for other sports.

How much brand new content does BoxNation show each week? How much of all the content shown does Frank own?

It all depends on their budget for boxing. SKY must also invest on other sports. BoxNation exits to show boxing only and the risk/reward ratio makes buying this fight worth it.

BoxNation has forced SKY to up their game. However, the recent fights announced should been on SKY anyway. Why did it take the formation of BoxNation to make them up their game?

You would think they can bring in at least an extra 10'000 subscribers and make that money back quite easily.

Boxnation need to change the payment model, no casual fan is going to pay 3 months subs for 1 fight.

Sell it to people who haven't got it for a one off £15 but bombard them with the info that they can have 2 months of boxing for £20 rather than 1 night.

Get rid of the payment wizard shite as well, need to be able to order it through the sky remote on the day of the fight.

So how much would Sky have paid for:

    Pacman v Mosley

    Mayweather v JMM

    Pacman v Clottey

£100,000 is not a lot of money for a company like Sky. How much have they paid for their golden boy deal? Alexander v Maidana and Morales v Garcia won't have been cheap!!!

It's probably a gamble but if the channel is going to work this is probably be the model they have to use. A big Cotto-Margo, Klitschko-Chisora, Mayweather-Cotto type fight every 2-3 months to anchor the coverage around and then fill the schedule out with domestic and European bills
