If Del Boy managed to pull off a huge upset do you think he will become as popular as David Haye was after he won the title?

Hes hasnt got the same persona about him but his win would be much bigger than Hayes win over Valuev and it will really make noises in the boxing world. So could it actually make him into a big celeb like Haye?

Personally i dont think it would but just thought i would make this thread to get your thoughts on this.

(i also think he will lose in a fairly competitive fight)

Casual sports fans dont know about the fight, they wont get to see it. If he somehow does win then hopefully he'll get a bit of coverage.

Thats exactly what i was thinking. Theres just not that hype about this fight. Haye was a world champ before and Del just hasnt made any kind of name for himself yet. I hope he gets coverage if he wins and i hope he gets something because hes going out there against the best in the world and representing GB. Im not a huge Del fan but i will be rooting for him on Sat.

Possibly. Haye's name will still be associated with the Klitschko brothers and Chisora would become known as the man who did what Haye couldn't do. Beat one of the K bro's. Still, is Vitali really that much more well known in UK households than Valuev? Remember it's the casuals that will turn boxers into superstars.

Chisora is nowhere near as articulate or as engaging as Haye. Haye comes across quite well in interviews, while Chisora gives half-assed answers and is a nightmare to interview at times. He can be funny but a lot of the time he just gives off the impression that he doesn't want to talk.

As a fighter, he's not as exciting as Haye, but then David Haye had very dull performances against Valuev and Harrison, yet the public still had interest in the Wladimir fight.

Hardcore boxing fans will appreciate him because he's a bit of a "geezer". As long as he continues to take good fights and has a go, boxing fans will love him.

He's not as good looking as Haye (no homo) so those hags on loose women might not want him on their show. I can't see him achieving the same mainstream success Haye did unless he turns out to be a far superior fighter, which is unlikely.

This. Not many people are talking about it, and being on boxnation doesn't help Chisora's brand either.

Nobody will give any part of a ****.

I think Dell boy would do well if marketed properly. He's got a mouth on him but doesn't take himself too seriously (unlike Haye). IF he wins, he could be selling Brut come Xmas time.

I don't really think that the British public will take to a man who has been convicted of beating his girlfriend....its a pretty hard sell.

This question highlights the problem Boxnation presents.

Exposure is only to the hardcore

No one will care as it will hardly get any coverage. And let's be honest, he ain't the champ if he wins anyway.
