So what if it was early in his career, McDermott is very very average. Should be decimating him, not labouring to a tight decision and a mid rounds stoppage. He shouldn't even be an issue, those rounds displayed his lack of punch power. How you think Fury is going to do anything when he doesn't have either of the pre-requisites for a heavyweight; a punch or a chin/defence I don't know yet you dismiss somebody like Boytsov because you probably ain't seen any of him yet he actually has technique and a punch. World beater? Not at all, just a lot better than Fury and that goes for a number of fighters. I couldn't even see Fury beating somebody like Adamek or Arreola.
No I wouldn't say Tyson is shot. Currently, I certainly don't believe he will ever win a World title though. He's a big entertaining but very clumsy boxer who'll be knocked spark out if he doesn't do the right thing and **** off back over to Stewards gym. Emmanual Steward is his key to success and adopting a style that will be right for Tyson. Uncle ****ing fury and the like just aren't acceptable IMO.
15 years doing what? He doesn't have the attitude that suggests he's a student of the game that's going to improve. We're seeing the same mistakes, if not worse. The same balance issues, the same defensive lapses, same poor punch technique, same lack of regard for trainers. All this againt opponents that are perfect to improve against and shouldn't be a real danger. So yeah in theory he has time to improve, but the thing is although I completely disagree with the thread starter, I think its optimistic that he's going to be around in 6 or 7 years nevermind 15 the way he's shipping punishment and there doesn't appear to be huge natural talent.
He isnt shot, Fury is a good young HW, especially as he trains in a barn & lives in a caravan. He has gone off the boil a little since beating Chisora, but thats understandable with all his personal problems this year. Tyson's been below par & under prepared in his last couple of fights, which have been against decent opponents & he's beaten them both.
he doesnt have a punch did you not see him flatten that brazillian last janaury? and hes stopped most of his opponents so i think your being a bit disrespectful saying he doesnt have a punch? In regards to his chin hes been down once! Calzaghe got floored a few times in his career does that mean he doesnt have a chin too?He has many good attributes to become a top heavyweight he just isnt using them to the best of his ability at the moment mainly because hes been changin trainer too many times.
needs to get himself a permanent trainer and get in shape then he has a chance, he has time on his side go over to america and train with steward, the issue with his chin he got hit clean can happen to any fighter he went down showed bottle got back up and finished the job think folk need to give him a break hes 23, price is 28 or 29 further on in devolpment whos chin hasnt been tested as a pro yet lets wait and see
There are a few revisionists around here. I must have literally read thousands of words about how great Fury's chin was. Tyson himself never stopped waffling on about his chin. If Fury fought the best fighters Brirain has to offer he wouldn't last 15 months nevermind 15 years. I'll stand by my prediction that Fury's career goes no further because he's shot.
He throws punches with hands down and closes eyes as punch comes, it's called being ****ing stupid. He's not shot but he'll soon be if he continues to fight like that..
How on earth is it going to be measurable? You say 'he goes no further', but isn't he simply not going to go any further because he is no way near good enough? How are you going to distinguish, or are you simply going to do what the so called 'chin checkers' do and use any defeat as an example of your prophecy being fulfilled.
12 out of 17 stoppages is hardly earth shattering at heavyweight. More to the point, his punch technique tells you everything you need to know about his power. He throws too many arm punches. Even his uncle says he has no power and he's in a pretty good position to know, regardless of whether he put away a Brazilian nobody had ever heard of.
Hennessey knows Tyson has reached his top level so will feed him a line of bums before setting him up with a fight against one of the K-Bros. My contention is Fury now on from here struggles with far inferior fighters and get gets dumped on his ass more regularly. In other words beating a fat Chisora will be the peak of his career. It is all downhill from here.
