With that in mind, are there many fighters that you could call ''weak chinned'' that were never/very seldom knocked out? Aside from a defensive genius who never got hit, of course.
From memory, I don't think there are many fighters who are/were 'chinny' that never got stopped, especially at the top level. Depends on the definition of chinny though. There are plenty of fighters who were easy to drop, but very hard to stop like Trinidad, Joe Louis etc. Which some people would consider 'chinny' but i personally wouldn't.
Yeah, I don't read too much into KD's personally. There can be any reason for it, being beaten to the punch, off balance etc. Marquez isn't a bad shout here though, he's been hurt quite often but nobody has ever really looked like putting him away. Pac might have done if the 3rd KD in the first fight hadn't been on the bell.
I don't think Marquez is weak chinned per se. I think he gets dropped because he doesn't have good defensive reflexes. Same with Larry Holmes.
Just be interested to know your thoughts on it. For one, I think if Tua was actually taught by Cus,Teddy, Rooney ideals on the peek a boo style he would have done alot better. I do believe Rooney was working on Tyson inside game, of course it never developed...as he fired him by 88. Great thread though, loved the Burley video, I dont think you can ever stop learning. One thing that is clearly apparent to me is that Wlad has an excellent teacher and this is one of the reasons he is so succesful....alot of other fighters do not have this. A break down of Chisora training and methods against Vitali- For example look at Dereck Chisora trainer Dom Charles, a few people have said he an up and coming coach...and he seems a top guy. Watch there training in which he has a broom stick, with a glove on the end...now this is fine inventive form of training but if it were me, id get a few things even more specific. Height- D. Charles is 5'8-5'10...I think Booth idea of wearing boots would be ideal and thus when Charles throws out that stick with the glove it will give Derek more chance of reading the jab when in the fight so really Charles should be wearing boots that make him around 6'7 and punch down rather than up. Another thing the stick is far to long, Charles should actually get a stick that would resemble the length of arm of Vitali.... Now onto some keys areas...when Dereck is moving his head, he is doing a fine job but- - His hands are below his chin so if a shot does come through its in his face instead of the glove. - He is static and not moving to the side or forward which is needs to do,So instead he will be moving his head constantly but eventually getting tagged and considering Vitali arm punches in great volume it dosent bode well. In essence a sitting duck that moves his head. - He is not practising punching AFTER moving his head. This is what Tua failed at loads of times. Studying Vitali, we also know that he does a sneaky left uppercut, which was effective against Peter....another punch they need to be aware of. Chisora punching form I believe is one of the reasons he does not have good punching power, he does not turn into each shot. His right hand is more of a slap, and never has that snap.
you might be right, wonder why he ducks so low... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxzzQ7OJSK4[/ame] he looks around 6ft in this, delboy is 6'1.
Just going back to Jermaine Taylor lads. Did anyone see his last fight? I think i could right a thesis on his flaws.
I don't know what he expects to do and achieve with coming back. He's only ganna do himself more damage. I'm sure he's earnt enough moolah out of the game.
