For a while, Ali was the best boxer on the planet, period. Mayweather is "only" the best welterweight.
Ali is my favourite fighter of all time and one of my greatest idols - however lets not forget what he put Joe Frazier through. Floyd has not made a stand for anything except for the love of money, if he made a strong stance against maybe poverty? He may be more idolised. Don't get me wrong he does do a lot for charities however, Ali made a stand for his people and beliefs.
Because Ali fought absolutely everyone out there, and was witty as hell. Mayweather has cherrypicked his entire career, and is a moron. End thread.
Ali would take on challenges where he was an unerdog. - talk a load of crap and then back it up in the ring. Mayweather picks fight after fight where he's a rediculous odds on to win, thenn talks aload of crap about being the greatest. Dude seriously, take an F'ing challeng, then back it up and i'll respect you again.
Plus Ali was making a stand when racism was amuch bigger issue back then. Mayweather is one of the only sportman still harping on about "black people not getting there due's" Haha give me a break. Most respected boxers of last 80 years "Ali, Jones, Leonard, Robinson" Basketball black apparently don't get respect - Haha Give me a break. Floyd is ******ed and shouldn't be allowedto speak.
Look at this guy pretending like he understands black history The same Ali that you stated was standing up for racism was also racist himself, he preached separatism and declared that if a black man was to make babies with a white woman, it was because he ashamed of his skin
Just to answer the thread starter question you can't even begin to compare the two, Ali was a sporting icon, he was also a charismatic and cocky as hell individual that just so happened to be around during the time america was going through it's biggest change since prohibition. The heavyweight division was the mecca of the worldwide boxing audiences knowledge of the sport. Everyone would know who the heavyweight champion was. Ali story is not only compelling but it transcends sports entirely, he is a global icon. A brand that never had the opportunity to seriously exploit that market. I just find it funny how white people can criticise floyd for being racist, after two soft comments yet give Ali a pass for being racist, because he lived in an era where white americans were racist. LOL So whites Americans ain't racist now? Get the **** out of here man.
yeah floyd should get a pass for being a racist because whites are also racist. nice *****logic. can you compare ali and floyd's opposition?
Floyd has NO charisma. He is has all the talent yet is the most unlikable ******* in the world. Ali didnt go to jail for beating on his wife.
