Strange, because I saw Benn systematically beat Nicky down in one-way traffic, rarely being caught or missing, banging the body all night before switching upstairs with compact shots, and violently stopping him.
Logan hit him with 22 shots in a row and couldn't get him over, and against Watson it was far more on exhaustion after putting everything into every punch for six rounds without landing. DeWitt didn't hurt him - he was on his knees and got up to bang him right after! Eubank, sure hurt him, but only when all his weight was behind a shot and couldn't get him over! Benn's chin is underrated. The Galvano and Perez things were admittedly weird, but similar happened against Barkley and Logan and his powers of recovery were phenonemal. Benn seemed to be able to take harder, fuller shots better than random little blows. But Benn was Benn, and he knocks Carl the **** down at will almost as far as I'm concerned.
Would not say Taylor schooled him, he had the first 6 rounds but as the fight wore on Froch turned the screw, which effectively bought about the k.o. and I would not describe Kessler as shot. Probably did as well as expected against Ward, and completley exceeded expectations against Abraham. I think Wharton would get stopped by Froch mid rounds with the ref jumping in to stop it.
It seems people either underrate or overrate Froch rather than just put it how it should be. This would be a good fight between two world level operators. I would expect Froch to win.
Douglas was not down multiple times against Benn. But if he was, why would you describe that as out boxing him ? You see Galvano shake up Nigel and go the distance, yet say Benn would knock Carl down whenever he wanted and stop him ? Eubank had a wild right hand unless his opponent was oming onto him. Look at Dan Sherry ? As I said I am not saying Carl would beat them, but he is nearer their level than Henry Wharton. Kessler, Dirrell, Abrams, Ward, Taylor in fact every super six opponent would have beaten Wharton. Eubank and Benn would not have won it either. Benn having the better chance
I seem to recall Rod went down in the rematch at 165. In the first fight at 156 Benn was outboxing him until Rod turned it on. I'll have to find some footage and prove you wrong... Galvano shook him up in the last two seconds of the 12th, as I admitted it was rather weird - Galvano as you know was perhaps the biggest spoiler in boxing in regards to clinching, holding, wrestling and grappling. Froch hasn't a clue how to fight inside or up-close, bless him. How many fighters in history can land a perfect right hand on a moving target? It's barely possible. I think Wharton obliterates the hiding, static, shelled-up, small & blown-up Abraham. That would be horrific. He'd make it a war down the stretch with coward-like Dirrell, who I can imagine taking a knee and quitting through kidney pain or a broken rib. Kessler's laser-straight punches and smooth style would be difficult for Henry, he'd be hit too much.
Boxer from the 90's who lost all his fights at world level to beat world class fighter from the 00's, that's how boxing works remember :nut
