Well said. :good I agree, not enough info to classify as top 10 ATG but def top 10 ATG HW chin. It's not his fault that his defense is so good that he hasn't take tons of bombs in all his fights. I bet most fighters wish they could say that about their defense.
Vitali has a great defense - Lewis is the only big hitter to have landed clean shots on him and even he only got through a few times. Show me several clips of Vitali taking big shots in different fights from anyone other than Lewis and not going down, then i'll agree he has a great chin. The fact is he doesn't get hit clean because of his size and his style even when he's in with big hitters. Which of course is to his credit but you need evidence to claim he has an iron chin. I realise getting hit is not a skill but despite Lewis's KO losses there is plenty of evidence he had an iron chin [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIRShCBKwng[/ame]
Name some fighters for proof.....Well Sanders, Williams, Hide, and Kirk Johnson landed some nice big shots on him and he never got knocked down.
My Top 10 HW Chins list goes as follows; 01. Chuvalo 02. Marciano 03. Ali 04. McCall 05. Holyfield 06. Cobb 07. Foreman 08. Mercer 09. Vitali 10. Bonavena So yes, he cracks it. He isn't in my P4P Best Chins Rankings, but at HW he is one of the most resilient of all-time.
Sanders had him on ***** street,Lewis had him looking like ****,Adamek dropped him and Byrd knocked him out COLD! Vitali has an iron shoulder but every time he has been hit in the chin,he is in trouble.
Thought about it. Vitali is made of pure steel. God bless the mother and father that created this beast. I can't see Vitali getting knocked out even at 50 years old let alone 40. Jeez.
Can you provide video evidence of Vitali being knocked down against Adamek and Byrd? I know as a fact you cannot unless you have some *****'n editing equipment.
Feather fisted super-middleweight Byrd rocked Vitali at 2:25 in this video. It was no coincidence that Vitali quit on his stool a minute later. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rLdggqtaWw[/ame]
No, he doesn't take enough punches Look at a fight like Morales - Pacquiao I, where both fighters are taking clean shots on the chin for 12 rounds facing maybe 3 heavy hitters (only one of them elite, and only for 6 rounds), doesn't get you a top 10 chin when there are fighters who have been in WARS for 15 rounds and their chins have stood firm
Interesting, I never realised how short the uppercut Lewis threw was. Some serious power from such a short shot
