I bet I know more about AFL than you mate...and please tell what part of my statement regarding the blown up salary farce thats going on now is incorect... if there was no Goldcoast or GWS what would the likes of izzy,carmichael,Palmer,scully etc be getting paid?

 

I'm sure you do but you're not qualified to talk about rugby league.

 

Mundine at the time was on a million a year in rugby league! FACT.

that was 13 years ago, at the time it was lightyears ahead of anyone, and 15 years later it would still be the highest salary, and would be up with the highest in AFL, RUGBY or any other australian sport.

 

I bet i know just as much as you do .question for you expert.
In rugby league is the highest paid player paid for:
A) proven ability .
B) potentual only .
C) how many people hate him and how big there mouth is .

if you want to fool people into thinking you are some sort of expert on league... never, EVER refer to it as "rugby"... you may as well come straight out and say i am a vico who knows absolutely **** all about "LEAGUE"

i am sure when it was time to re-negotiate the contract, after losing the game for the dragons in their 99 grand final by knocking on over the try line, he did not have as much leverage. Not sure why choc fans dont ever mention him losing the grand final in 99:huh

No mate only started following union when the super comp started. not from vic but lived in canberra during the 80s and back then we called them Rugby or Union ....sorry if I offended

 

Well sure, there should be a correlation between pay and status in the game but it doesn't always happen that way. Chris Sandow just signed to Parra for a lot of money which he has yet to prove he is worth.

When Anthony Mundine left the game of rugby league the only people who believed he was the best player in the game were him, his mum and dad, Ashley and some other deluded fanboys.

As many posters who understand the game have pointed out - he lacked the 'complete' game to be considered a great. Mundine slots into a different tier of player, not one to be ashamed of but not on the level of the great five eights of the last 30 years.

 

Dont you think he could have achieved more as he got older and matured . Most 5/8's mature and get better and better with age . ie lockyer,wally and kenny...

 

I wish he did. He may have become something extraordinary as he grew. Anyway, all hypothetical now.
