Floyd has a great style advantage over Duran. I actually think 154 Duran has an advantage because he carried extra weight better than Floyd. Sounds funny but I think it would be the opposite as you guys.

Do we assume the Duran of the Moore fight or just the Duran from the early 80's? I would favor Duran over Floyd in the first by very close decision, and give Mayweather the decision in the latter. The closest stylistic comparison is Benitez and Duran clearly lost that one.

I'm personally picking Duran any any weight division. Although Floyd could perhaps beat Moore at 154, I don't see him annilating him the way Duran did. At 160 against Hagler, again, I think Duran does better. At 160 against "the blade" again, I'm picking that version of Duran to beat Floyd. At 147 when Duran fought Leonard, he again beats Floyd. The version of Duran who lost in the rematch against Leonard could possibly loss to Floyd, as could the version of Duran who lost to Hearn's. But at their best, Duran wins regardless of weight class as he's simply too agressive of a fighter for Floyd to deal with.

Look at what Castillo did. Duran is too good in every category for Floyd.

Totally different fight. Mayweather would be at the top top of his game vs. Duran compared to Castillo. Many people compare great fighters when they had a tough fight like Hearns vs. Kinchen, so they say well if Jones fought Hearns how much better is Jones than Kinchen. Doesn't work out. Hearns would have been motivated for Jones and in better shape. Totally different same as Jones would not be the guy who struggled when he fought a better fighter.

Mayweather has a great defense because many of the guys he fights aren't especially clever when it comes to hitting a guy that doesn't want to get hit. Duran was pretty good at hitting people that were trying to avoid punches. And he learned his lessons, especially by the time he got to 154, from some solid fighters.
    Duran would beat him.

Duran for me - the guy is a top 10 ATG.

his technical changes from the first DeJesus fight was fantastic, the beatdowns of Guts and Thompson further proved that point.

He was no longer the brawler that he was originally, his footwork was fantastic and if he missed you with a punch he some how managed to adjust himself into postition to throw with the other hand.

It's on display in that Duran/Wheatley thread where you can see where he throws a right hand & in a split second has adjusted to throw a crippler of a left hook. He had that special gift of near perfected balance, speed & positioning to deliver venomous power with each hand in the blink of an eye juxtaposed with slickhead movement & a granite chin.

Floyd just does not tick any boxes for me as to how he could nullify Duran, Floyd just does not throw enough punches or has anywhere near the power along with the fact that he's just that nimble on his feet.

Floyds much vaunted shoulder role defence will be rendered obsolete as he'll be crushed by the left hand of Duran who just has to much all round offensive & defensive boxing savvy for the likes of Floyd. It's the left hand double tap body/head from Duran that will drive Floyd onto the righthand sledgehammer + throw in the guaranteed head/elbows/testicle rupturing punches & thumbs as a bonus.

Duran at 154 obviously ai'nt the Duran at 135/147 but what the **** is Floyd these days if not a safety first/risk averse $$$$ robber. It's the sign of the times & HBO/Floyd employing the gorballesque properganda that if you keep repeating the same lie over & over again it becomes TRUTH.

Floyd looks good against selected opponants & not one of these in his whole career can come anywhere close to what he'd face if he'd ever encountered the likes of Duran/Leonard or Hearns. Floyds good but not that good IMHO.

Sure he'd beat the Duran of Kirland Laing & Jimmy Battan but not the Duran who wanted something you had as in the Cuavas/Moore/Hagler & Barkley fights.
