Excitement needs to be created inside the ring not outside

I'm tired of seeing these clowns (Haye, Chisora) get glorified for their behavior, as if they're helping put boxing back on the map. First of all, boxing is fine, second of all, the sport (especially the heavyweight division) needs exciting fights, not press conference brawls and bad blood. How many times have we seen this? They talk sh#t, they get physical outside the ring and then when it's time to fight they don't do sh#t, the fight is dull as f#ck. You wanna bring excitement to the sport? Do it inside the ring, like Gatti & Ward, Castillo & Corrales, Vasquez & Marquez, Bowe & Holyfield, etc. No bad blood and out of the ring shenanigans in those fights, just real warriors.

Yeah, it sucks that Klitschko-Chisora is overshadowing Cloud-Campillo. We should all be outraged and united over the terrible decision but instead everyone (myself included) is talking about two cement headed fools.

 

Ah jeez, quit the whining. The bottom line is that Chisora and Haye have created more excitement in the HW division in a long time. There is interest in a potential fight between the two, and between them and the Klitschkos.

I bet you whiners would have criticized Clay for calling out Liston - "Oh, that untested bowhard should keep his mouth shut..... " atsch

 

Even when a fight is announced its the build up outside the ring that helps the fight sell and gets people even more hyped, like HBO's 24/7 and that Fight Camp 360 for the S6.

I am getting pretty tired of people having ago at Haye & Chisora - Its not often this website actually talks about something else other than ****ing Manny & Floyd - We should be thankful they are both ****ing crazy.

Yup this robbery is on the level of Williams-Lara but won't get half the limelight.

I can't wait to read your reaction when they produce a series of crap fights.

These shows help sell the fights but people are mainly excited because of the fighters styles or ring accomplishments, that's the main reason why they buy ppvs or tickets.

 

Lots of **** going down is good, as long as there is the substance to back it up.

Boxing reminds me of Amy Winehouse sometimes -- she got lots and lots of attention over the mess she made of her life, but for all that she didn't comparitively deliver very much of what people were actually interested in: her singing. Who wants to hear about someone who does nothing but **** up their life repeatedly? But if they've got a great voice and are producing some quality music at the same time, that only adds to the interest in both.

If Chisora and Haye have motor-mouths that's fine. They just need to ****ing slug it out in the ring too. If there's **** going down, and they produce some exciting fights then it's good for boxing. If there's no substance to the noise, people will be turned off boxing.

Lots of fuss, and crappy fights -> disaster
No fuss, exciting fights -> moderate success
Lots of fuss, exciting fights -> huge success

You've just got to deliver.

 

This is true. And it remains to be seen if Haye and Chisora can create the excitement and interest IN the ring they've created outside it.

But my point is simple - with their out-of-the-ring antics, they've created interest in what they might do in the ring. And that's more than the Klits - despite their superior talent - have done over the last several years at the top.

 

Its sad that fights in the smaller weight divisions font get a fraction of the exposure that these clowns do. These guys are all bark no bite

 

For christ sake the heavyweight division is a talentless lot that are both unable and unwilling to produce a great product in the ring. The sad thing is that Boxing is only as healthy as its "glory" division. its good that that Glory division finally got the spot light.

Its BS that people want fighters to be ambassadors for the sport and role models. Fans want want the fighters to be passionate and unpredictable not bland and boring.
