Kevin Rooney should be training Derek Chisora not Shot Mormeck!

Yes, hes only 28 years old but he'll be on the decline in 3 years. He's not a big puncher and he gets hit WAY to much. It's just too late in the game for a new trainer...even a seemingly perfect one like Roooney...to make a difference.

 

"Prime" Chisora has only 1 big fight left in him and since Wlad won't b his next , if they ever fight it will b more like post prime Wlad vs shot Chisora .
Had it been Wladimir instead of Vitali vs Chisora in Saturday's night , Chisora would have been Wladimir's 4th loss , but Wlad & Steward were smart enough 2 let Chisora fight d other big men 1 after d other until he's nearly burnt out now .

The fighter has to pick who he wants to train him. Chisora is a bigger waste of time than Mormeck.

Will be nice to see Rooney in a heavyweight championship fight again. Mormeck will be in shape at least.

 

It's a damn shame it's a gross mismatch, & still would be even if Mormeck was 5 years younger.

Salty, what do you think of the potential in Seth Mitchell? I think Rooney would be ideal for him.

 

Mitchell's still green, but he seems to go for it and Rooney likes ballzy guys. Could be a good match.

Mormeck really has no business messing with 245 pound heavyweights at all, but again lets see what Rooney can have him bring to the table.

Rooney knows boxing and he knows having had Tyson that size doesnt matter when you take an opponent out of their comfort zone and thats what he has to do to Klitschko. Make it a street fight. Make Wlad miss, get inside and rough him up.

 

I don't think Mormeck has the reflex to go often center very quickly at all.

And if he tries to fight in the D'Amato way, Wlad will murder him.

 

If Shot Mormeck tries to fight in any way, other than constantly retreating in a defensive shell, Wlad will murder him. That much is pretty clear. Wlad can pick & choose the round.

 

Wlad doesn't murder anybody unless he opens up and tries.

If Mormeck fights smart and doesn't try to reach out of his comfort zone, I wouldn't doubt Wlad lets him hang around. Thats a consistent element of his style.

 

Well you were trying to say Shot Mormeck automatically gets murdered for fighting D'Amato style, however all I meant was, that the same logical applies for him employing any come-forward aggressive style against Wlad. A Frazier style would get him destroyed too for example. When you say "fights smart" do you mean like a poor version of what Chambers achieved nothing with? It really is pathetically hopeless, as a much smaller guy trying to beat Wlad by countering him on the backfoot or trying to outbox him in any shape or form while going backwards. I do see your point though, Wlad could've destroyed Chambers in the second round, but due his safety-first & safety-second style, combined with Eddie's, it almost went the distance. Whereas with Mormeck, he'll probably keep coming forward, so Wlad can take him out whenever he wants. While obviously, the additional advertising revenue is a financial incentive to carry his opponents.

 

David Haye and Derek Chisora are both mutha****in made men. They've brought swagger back to our heaviest division, I've missed heavyweight swag so much.

 

Nothing like a bit of G-thuggery to get me excited about the current Heavyweight scene again!

 

Mormeck won't fight in the DAmato style he just needs to understand the principles of beating a guy like Wlad and try to win. He's not going to win a boxing match. His only chance is to try and figure out a way to get close and rough without taking too much punishment. A tall task for sure.

 

Yeah I don't know how much potential I can assign to a guy on just having a few galant losing efforts or being the victim of the occasional robbery alone. He needs to actually get in there and decisively beat someone of notoriety in order to be considered world class.. And being somewhat close to age 30 with perhaps only 18 or 19 fights, his prospects are not looking too good. If I had a crystal ball ( which I don't ) I'm guessing that it would show him being an upper tier journeyman or low end fringe type in three years from now.
