The judges were on the take in the first Ramirez and Chavez bouts. No doubt about it.

Not really because everyone knows he really beat ramirez and chavez so getting the official nod makes no difference really.

I disagree. Not that Chavez and Ramirez won, as I think both clearly lost (please never make me watch the Chavez fight again) but that future generations may just look at the records and not investigate further. Whitaker, brilliance aside, was never a scintillating you've got to watch him performer. 30, 40 years from now they may just take those fights at face value.

I doubt it. People who haven't even seen the fights would say they were robberies based on word of mouth and general consensus. It's pretty much ingrained in the minds of the boxing public that those fights were robberies. The same will continue to be true in the future, especially given the status of the two fighters and the ever-expanding amount of readily available information on the internet. Not to mention there's footage of the fight in full, and it's quite a high profile fight.

Most of the elite fighters of the last three or four decades are safeguarded in that area. There isnt any "no film exists" bull****. It's Right There.

Ramirez vs Whitaker I is a worse decision than vs Chavez IMO......

I have it 9-3 Whitaker or something......against Ramirez......

Oh yeah no question. Ramirez had like 2 rounds near the end of the fight where he landed something. Chavez as I vaguely recall put up a fight, at least the first few rounds.

This is kinda my point so far.. s.w. put up a list of fuller n who he faced that can compare to whitaker ... Problem is, fullmer didn't beat the guys whitaker in as dominating a fashion. Dominating the best of the beat in a particular era should carry the most weight when determining the best of the best. Yet pea barely cracks the top 25 of most, when only a select few dominated like pea did. I guess there is a disconnect some place guys I just don't see some of these guys above pea.

I think probably you rank h2h as more important than some of us. I go strictly by results which is why Pea wouldn't crack my top ten. But h2h Whitaker could go with just about anyone.

My question is, why WOULDN'T head to head be the No.1 category to distinguish greatness from other respective greatness? Seems to me that should be the no. 1 variable followed by other variables.

No way. Not for me anyway. Who you beat is everything.

It's easily the most subjective category.

Resume and achievement is the most important for me. H2h is more of a tiebreaker than anything else.

He`s in my top 10... but I do not include fighters with only **** (or zero) video footage available.

That's confusing to me though... How is that the most subjective... when stuff like quality of opposition (resume), to me, is clearly more subjective. How Pea dominated the best fighters he faced compared to how others did doesn't seem nearly as subjective to me.
