Prime Holmes vs Prime Bowe, who wins?

Donald would have easily beat Shultz. Bowe beat Donald like a gong.

 

I think holmes of 1979 who went life and death with mike weaver showed far too much for shultz, donald and bowe. combination of skills, speed, heart and desire on another level. And pace! Holmes landed a lot of punches and he could keep it up.

I get that you like bowe I just want to see examples of more than one fight where ridduck looked like a great fighter beating a live worthy contender who wanted to win. I want to know how he outworks Holmes over 15 rounds.

 

And I see through your prior posts you have disdain for Bowe. So much so that you make pages of ridiculous comments comparing him to fighters who lost several times to lessor foes.

Bowe was a decorated olympian who was picked up by Eddie Futch. Futch wasnt the type of guy to waste his time or bring fighters along ducking the correct kind of oppositon to prepare them for championship level opposition.

To say that Bowe was successful because Holyfield was a small heavyweight is also a joke. Holyfield was handful for anyone and Bowe got the best of him over three fights at his respective best. Something no other heavyweight can claim big or small.

Because he didnt fight a limited contender who could punch more, like a Morrison, or a Ruddock is meaningless and should not be held against him. Same with beating a little bit better guy like Mercer who retrospectively would have represented a better win than the time when he was getting beat by the likes of Jesse Ferguson and Larry Holmes.

The fight that should be held against him is Lennox Lewis who he should have faced at some point after winning the title before facing Holyfield again. That fight would have cemented his legacy more as a top fighter but could have also changed a lot for Lewis who really wasnt in the same league as Bowe around this time and thats why he was so easily exposed by Oliver Mcall. Mcall was a fighter with limited skills, but a good enough chin to stand in the pocket and expose Lewis' wide open sloppy technique.

 

I agree that Bowe would have been too much for Lennox at that particular time. A great hypothetical fight would be Bowe 1992 v Lewis 1997. Lennox wins in that scenario.

 

I also think 1992 Bowe was a better fighter than Lewis.

 

I dont think Lewis at his best would beat Bowe at his. Bowe would turn it into a fight at close quarters and he would have trouble with Bowe on the inside because he couldnt much more than hold and throw a telegraphed uppercut that Bowe probably wouldnt fall for.

 

But did Bowe ever beat a puncher like lewis? I think Lewis (although knocked out twice) was never bothered by big reputations when switched on in a big fight. I would say Lewis had the more reliable big fight temperment since he won more key fights in a career where he met nearly all possible rivals. Bowe flunked key fights. although Lewis was KOd it was never in key fights he HAD to win like the grant, briggs, golota, ruddock, morrison, holyfeild showdowns that a lot of people wanted him to lose. I was not a fan of his but lennox always delivered in big fights.

 

Agree with this logic and would favor Lewis about 90% of the time... The time I think Bowe might have a chance would have been if they actually met like they were supposed to in 1993, which was prior to Lewis acquiring Manny Steward as his trainer... he still was rough around the edges at this stage.... But since Bowe was the one who backed out of the fight we are limited in terms of how much we can give him ( riddick ) the benefit of the doubt.
