    Excellent thread, really informative.

    The little nuances Ward does went over my head when I first saw him a few years ago. Just the subtle things. It's great seeing a fighter box like that in this day and age. A rarity by todays standards.

    I love Holyfield too. So much so that if i saw him getting jumped in the street i would gladly risk my life to help him. And there's not many people i would risk my life for.

    I'll say one thing though. I know this could be considered blasphemous amongst us Holyfield fans and say it quietly. I think he did some dodgy things after the 'heart attack' fight.

    - Gifs are great for illustration purposes.

    That's not controversial. He's one of myfaves too, but I personallythinl items the dodgy stuff he was doing for that brought about the 'attack'.

    Holyfield = :bbb

    He really was everything you could want from a top-level fighter. He was that rare mix of technical ability and heart-strong aggression, when stung he just wanted to hurt his man back, but he wouldn't ever stop coming.

    When i watch the Tyson fight, I just think about his willingness to engage with the stronger man. He was the one relishing the violence, not Tyson.

    Just a remarkable fighter.

    That seemed to ruin Villamor. I think Finito Lopez KO'd 4 or 5 southpaws with the same exact shot, IIRC. Talk about knowing how to fight southpaws.

    I always maintain that shot is the best to hurt a southpaw if you can pull it off. When something keeps repeating it's not a coincidence. I've also seen several other fighters knockdown or hurt southpaws with that counter left uppercut after slipping the lead or throwing it as a sneaky lead themselves. Mike Spinks was great at it.

    I haven't really checked this out since the first post. Are any posts broken down to certain subjects or is it just scattered knowledge throughout? Rather not have to go through 42 pages. :lol:

    Holyfield is a great example of a skilled fighter taking advantage of modern S & C
