Hi guys just looking for some general advice about times from people who have been to the last couple of fights at Braehead. What time does the first bout start? What time does Ricky fight roughly finish if it goes the distance? And has anybody travelled back to Edinburgh after it on the train? Thanks
Never been to braehead for boxing but i'd imagine if you want any chance of getting the last train to edinburgh, you will need to get a taxi sharpish to queen st! The athletics hall at kelvin hall would have been the best venue. Could have squeezed more than 4k in there
doors open roughly about 6.30pm. Depending on how long the undercard lasts Ricky could be in the ring roughly around 9pm-9.30pm but could be closer to 10. If you are depending on a train to get back to Edinburgh then I'd advise you look into staying in Glasgow for the night. Braehead transport links are very poor, you would need to get back into the centre of Glasgow and get to Glasgow Queen Street Station in order to get the train back into Edinburgh and the last train is at 11.30pm. you would be cutting it very tight and if all the fights go the distance, including Ricky then you have no chance of making the last train.
Pretty much this. Assuming a few points finish within the distance and the show runs smoothly, you'd be out anywhere between 10-11. Public transport from Braehead at that time of night to Glasgow is virtually non-existent, and any buses that are on to Glasgow are going to be mobbed, same goes for the taxi rinks. (I went to Burns' last fight at Braehead, and my dad's a taxi driver - he said he made a killing off the Braehead crowd to the point he called it a night early that night.)
If your in Edinburgh, there is a bus runniing from the lochend gym and maybe a bus from callders for simmonds
the simmons bus is full i hve been told but there is ment to be a bus running from crofters at sighthill and have been told there are spaces on that as well as lochend one .
