how the hell is he allowed to get away with this?? and chavez jr tries to justify it claiming he wants voluntary privileges wasn't ****ing peter manfredo jr a voluntary defense? the kid is a joke and the biggest fraud in boxing right now.

Andy Lee has proven himself a far better fight then murray, your blind to think otherwise,

Agreed, Andy Lee is a far more interesting and proven fighter than Murray.

The only embarrassing thing about this fight is that it would sold as a WBC world middleweight title fight..

I think Chavez is a joke tbh but he beat Murray, not saying much as Chavez is a light heavyweight.

Never said Any Lee wasn't more proven to be fair, just said I'm not sold on him as a genuine elite middleweight. I also don't find him that interesting at times, and would enjoy a Chavez/Murray fight more than Chavez/Lee - thus I'd rather see it.

Can't argue with this. Everyone see's things their own way.
Personally I think Lee is never in boring fights and always tries to ko his opponents. I think Lee is more powerful than Murray and therefore I think Lee v JccJr is more exciting. That said - If it isn't Lee getting the shot (of course MArtinez rightfully should be fighting JCCJR) than Quillin or some other contender, who has a good ko record and who can bang at the top level.

who said you have to be elite to beat chavez? Lee has a better shot at upsetting chavez, chavez will just come into the fight and push his weight on murray, murray would never be in the fight

If you're not sure that Lee isElite, fair enough. But just watching Murray you can see he isn't world level, despite winning a few rounds off European-caliber Sturm.

Without being rude, you've missed my entire point - I think Chavez will beat either Lee or Murray. I think Chavez/Murray would be the more entertaining fight, and so I'd rather see Murray fight him.

Nothing more to it than that.

I don't think either Lee or Murray are at world level. I'm not denying that Lee's the better boxer all round though.

Then I can't see why you'd prefer the Murray fight! Although, each to their own, I was just thinking at least Lee has pop, Murray doesn't even have that. Lee has an awkward style, Murray does a poor version of Chavez. Many reasons I could prefer to see Lee-Chavez :good

    Because I'm cynical.

Lee's the better boxer out of himself and Murray, but I don't think his boxing ability alone is going to be enough to beat Chavez. Chavez is nowhere near as good as Lee technically, but he's adept enough in certain areas that when combined with his sheer size he'll be a handful for plenty of middleweights. I'm not convinced that Lee's got quite enough pop there to knock him out.

Chavez/Murray I think would be an entertaining fight, if nothing more. Their styles are similar, and I think they'd make for a fun fight. I'm not convinced Chavez/Lee would, as Lee's got an awkward style and Chavez isn't used to dealing with southpaws. It would answer some questions about how Chavecito can deal with that though, granted.

Having said that, I think either fight would be a continuation of Chavez's development. I don't take the WBC alphabelt title he has seriously, so I'm not demanding he face Martinez, Sturm, Macklin Pirog, Geale or even Golovkin at this point.

(I did type out a longer post but my browser decided to crash and mock me.)

So after Chavez, Jr himself stated that Martin Murray would be his choice for an opponent, this happens. (Courtesy of Boxing Scene)

For those of you that can't access the link:

I did chuckle at the part in bold tbh. Partly because he's earned the right for a WBC alphabelt shot on the basis of rankings with other alphabelt orgs, but mostly due to "Team Lee" also being "Team Martinez" in the sense of Lou DiBella being their promoter.
