Mayweather has demonstrated over the years that he excels in every facet of the fight game. The only drawback that “Money” has is his refusal to be tested against the best competition. He has agreed to fight Cotto. But Cotto is not the feared fighter since then. He has suffered two devastating losses at the hands of Margarito and by Pacquiao in the 12th round. Cotto is most definitely not the same fighter prior to those two losses.

Prior to selecting Cotto as his opponent, boxing fans were hopeful that he would elect to fight Pacquiao in what would have been the biggest PPV fight in boxing history. However that did not prove to be the case.

Mayweather reserved the MGM Grand for May 5 for his next fight, just prior to Pacquiao’s fight with JMM. It was evidently clear that Floyd had no intention of fighting Pacquiao on 5 de Mayo. Then “Money” went on a campaign in which he would tweet messages to Manny such as “Step up punk!”

Then Mayweather went very public that he had offered Pacquiao $40M to fight him. However when Pacquiao placed a call to Floyd, he made it clear that he would keep all the proceeds from the PPV and whatever other revenue the fight drew. It became clear to Pacquiao at that time that Mayweather was attempting to sandbag him with a ridiculously low offer.

It gets complicated, but obviously Floyd being the master strategist that he is, sees something in Manny’s style that he fears. At this stage of his career Mayweather does not want to risk going up against a fighter he may potentially lose to.

The one edge Pacquaio has over Floyd is his one punch KO power and his ability to devastate fighters who are larger than he is. In addition, Manny is totally fearless in the ring and when he lands his combinations they come in bunches at unusual angles with power and speed.

Evidently when taken in totality, Manny Pacquiao is perceived by Floyd Mayweather as too much of a risk.

of course thats always been the case , part of it is also ego and his relationship with Bob Arum. I think now Floyd probably doesnt fear fighting Pacquiao but he still sees him as an uncessary risk, when he's making a ton of money fighting easier guys like Ortiz. But since he's running out of opponents now he might not have any other option. Certainly a year or two ago Floyd feared getting in the ring with Pac and that's why he came up with the blood testing excuse in the first place.

    Yep...straight up

PAC can ask for 50/50 when his fight ticket come with offer of free room, free buffet, and free limo ride with his fight ticket. Until then Mayweather is the more popular fighter so Pac doesn't deserve 50/50.

I hate to break it to you, but all the free **** that comes with the tickets is not necessarily a sign that he's so popular. It's more of a marketing ploy SO more people will buy tickets
