I like Toney and JMM displays of body work. Bute for a more modern approach but also Hearns for an underrated mention. His left hook to the body was a beauty. Lamotta and Armstrong are others but stand out more.

Actually, look at his shorts afterward:yikes. That would have given a better indication of how well Alexis could dig to the body (you know about that story I trust?)
Alexis also doubled over Kobayashi with a hook to the body. He was as good an all-around puncher as I've ever seen, and his attack to the body was no exception.
Poor Boza. I remember the first time I heard the story I thought it was an exaggeration. Then I saw the clip... And yeah Arguello was one of the most perfect punchers I've ever seen both in delivery and results.
Gene Tunney was a very effective body puncher, with both the left hook and the straight right to the solar plexus and heart. Watch Toney make Holyfield wince with a variety of body blows. In some fights McGirt was very effective to the body. What some people don't understand is that you don't have to constantly targeting the body to be effective there; one or two well placed and well timed punches can do a lot of damage.
Good shout: Springfield Republican 3/29/1946: "I never saw this 'Kid Chicken' (Marcus Lockman) fight, but they tell me that he is a very shifty lad who can throw punches from every angle," LaMotta said. "That type generally gives me plenty of trouble until I slow them down with body punches and then stop them cold. That's what I'll have to do against Chicken." Springfield Republican 3/30/1946: LaMotta didn't have the easy time that he was expected to. For the first five rounds it was an even affair but Jake's body punches wore the Chicken down and LaMotta won all of the last five rounds to earn the unanimous decision. Jake was no dummy. He knew how to make a game plan and stick with it:good
Tyson was a brutal body puncher - really brutal! Dempsey too was pretty savage inside to the body - was going to say Marciano aswell but anywhere his punches landed they were pretty bad I suppose
