Devon really impressed me last night. He worked the jab well, shot his straight left out with accuracy and power, and seemed to move around the ring with the air of confidence and swagger he had 18 months ago.

I was surprised how easily he handled Maidana, who has never been beaten in such a convincing manor. Even with the cut, he looked in control throughout and could have gotten his man out of there late on (I'm glad he didn't as my bet paid off :yep)

So, how does he do at 147? The obvious fight is the Berto - Ortiz winner which would have the makings of a good fight. I'd love for him to smash Mike Jones. Then we have Kell Brook, Shevchenko (for all you Amir Khan fans), Bailey and Khan himself moving up.

There's a lot of good fights out there for him now. I'm glad to admit he proved me wrong.

Maidana IMO should drop back down in weight. I'm not sure his chin is up to it at 147, and I don't think he will carry the power up to a great extent. He should drop back to 140. Peterson, Soto, Garcia and my man Vargas would all be winnable fights for the Argie.

    Thoughts?

Maidana was out-boxed & bashed up, hurt to the body & head. If he stays at 147 he'll be a tough gate-keeper type.

Alexander will look to fight someone in the top10 soon, Mike Jones would be a good opponent.

There's a lot of guys just waiting for a big fight to get into the limelight like Brook, Jones, Porter, Soloman etc. that both men could end up facing.

Maidana said it wasnt his weight class in post fight. Plenty of options for him at 140. Holt or Matthysse would be fun fights. Rios at 140 if he losses.

    Alexander v Malignaggi.

Maidana hasnt the frame for 147.

Hopefully Eddie Hearn can tempt him over here with McCloskey in the early autumn.

I'd like to see Maidana in with Brook. That's a real test.

Think Brook handles Maidana with easy. Not sure Maidana would fancy it either.

I think Maidana v Hatton would be a better scrap but think Maidana needs to drop to 140.

I still think Maidana would beat Dudey. He was wry lucky to get the decision against Prescott IMO

Good idea, he should definitely be at 140 though.

In the ring he was 157, Alexander 155 btw. Although Devon looked the bigger man to me.

Yeah, I'm surprised Devon came in lighter. He looked far bigger last night

Haven't seen fight i went for Maidana's crude power to hurt Alexander but fair play to kid for winning. Sorta goes to show Maidana was a vastly overrated fighter though IMO. Let's face it he struggled with Corley and Morales and then gets outboxed by Alexander a guy who Matthysse bashed around ring last year.
