Have a watch of it mate. It's a pretty good fight, with both (particularly Maidana) being hurt

Devon looks for a bigger fight and he is back with a bang. Maidana has to take a step back to rebuild. Both still quality operators but one moves on and the other rebuilds.

morales would beat maidana convincingly, i'd even pick prescott against maidana, all that guy has is a punch and even his punching power is overrated

I think Maidana should look to take the money and come over for the McCloskey fight.

After losing a fight in such convincing fashion there is no way that HBO will have on their schedule as a main event fighter and they won't give him a push as a major "HBO" fighter. If he only waits for the big pay days he could be in for a shock because HBO won't look to accommodate him, and at best he could get fights on their network a couple of times a year. He has to look for options which keep him relevant and making money, and the McCloskey fight will certainly do that.

The natural next fight for Devon Alexander is the winner of Berto-Ortiz II but that is in June and he shouldn't sit on the sidelines, he should look at a fight against another top 10 Welterweight opponent, possibly the winner of Guerrero-Aydin in July/August.

Maidana - Prescott would be fun while it lasted. But I think Prescott would spark him early

Maidana v Matthyse makes a ton of sense whatever happens in Matthyse/Soto. Maidana drops back a bit in the pecking order, but he's still an exciting fighter that people will want to see. Matthyse unfortunately through no fault of his own hasn't managed to get a breakout win on the board and its unclear whether Soto coming up in weight would do that entirely. Soto is pretty under the radar despite being technically excellent.

I'd love to see this all Argie affair, all things considered Matthyse looks to be the better fighter.

Did anyone else feel that Maidana looked a bit fleshy around the waist? He seemed laboured and less intense than he has in previous fights at LWW. (Although this might be because he was getting his ears boxed off).

Potentially there could be a place for him at welter - but think it may be a case that he needs to add those extra 7 pounds on in muscle instead of comfort weight.

Alexander for his part looked good and showed a lot of composure. Plenty of options for him.

Maidana is washed up, he's been blueprinted pretty handily, Morales bashed him up, Ortiz and khan did damage, Alexander hurt him, it's over for him.

Alexander will be fringe world class for his career, might be able to cherry pick a title but if he steps up even to berto-ortiz level he gets stopped.

    Definitely.

  13. Maidana vs Matthysse would be a guaranteed barn burner.

I think Matthysse would stop him in the late rounds personally.

Alexander should look to fight the Berto/Ortiez and Mallignaggi/Senchenko winners.

Maidana should go back to 140. Try and do a fight with Mathysse or Katsidis. With Maidana it doesn't matter if he loses like that people will still want to see him.
