Don´t agree tih Holyfield. Don´t think he was better than Hopkins. Jones definitly though. Huge underachiever. His win against Hopkins is certainly a very good one over one of the best mws around then, just not a great one IMO.

it's hard for me to say with Holyfield/Hopkins in terms of the better fighter, I do lean towards Holyfield though, slightly. I'll just have to respectfully disagree, not with a whole lot of conviction though.

Well, for me there is a big question mark about Holy anyway with all the steroid stuff. Don´t know how good he really was and how much he achieved with the help of ´roiding.

we can't really mark him down really though because as you say, it's a question mark, we can only speculate as to how he may have done without said unfair advantages

i have to lean towards holyfield personally, despite his inconsistency. Simply put, he was the best heavyweight during a large portion of the divisions last "golden era" (let's call it the bronze era). He competed at a high level for a significant period of time and this is well after he established himself as the greatest cruiser ever (by a long shot). His skill set at his best was incredible and his athleticism top notch. He took the occasional loss but his wins against tyson, qawi and even foreman and holmes stand well against much of hopkins career. Only hopkins latter career wins against tito, pavlik and tarver really make it a tough call but in the end, i lean towards holy

Well, yeeah-no. He roided. There are too many indications for that. The question mark is how much it helped him. Don´t know that´s why I don´t let that tarnish his legacy but I can´t asses how good he really was as a fighter because of that.

it's not just that though, it's the fact he was the best cruiserweight ever and moved up to heavy and did what he did there

That's what I meant, when I said mentioning speculation I didn't mean speculation as to if he roided, I think it's obvious he did. I mean speculation as to how much it helped him. I'm not marking him down and saying he doesn't beat Bowe for example without the roids because we simply do not know if that's true. I can't rate and or ank on speculation.

I agree with that. How can you say then that he was better than Hopkins?

Just by watching him man, Holyfield looked amazing, especially at cruiser, I'm not saying he was as complete and or tactically astute, just so effective and dynamic at that weight, a head to head monster, and that win over Bowe does him much favours when I assess how good he was, despite the losses to him.

I'm off for the rest of the day now my man, peace out bodhl,

No I mean as in his achievements in the sport are literally legendary.

I don't think anyone has been a meaningful champion as long as he has. His top victories aren't too shabby neither.

Plus looking at him against tito, he puts on an absolute masterclass that makes you wonder what it would take for someone to beat him prime for prime.
