Without Showtime, considering all the other expenses for a gala in Montreal, including the rest of the card, the promotion, etc., if Froch gets 1M$, Bute would not have 50% of the split. Bute was lowballing himself. That being said, without a major network, a Bute-Froch fight cannot give them what they should get. That's why Hearn has not made an offer yet. He can't find enough money.
Thank you for the kind words. Errm. Not quite. You are making a statement of probability exclusively based on the alleged interpretation of Froch's tweet. That is flawed because 1. you are assuming you've got the right meaning and 2. you don't consider other complementary information. Out of that, mathematics is not a matter of point of view. See for instance the further input you dismissed with a undue label: As other users already noticed, the $ 1M was the offer for Froch, not the whole amount. Now, in the final of a relatively strong tournament supported by an important TV chain, with both finalists bringing in a major belt, the very same Froch got only $ 600k < $ 1M. Froch lost that match, he is no longer a world champ, yet now Interbox allegedly made an offer even significantly better than what he got from his arguably career top match. If you call that lowballing, then you are at odds with reality. Yes, Froch may want to get more money, but he cannot realistically hope to earn much more than he got for his top match. OTOH, as far as we know there was no formal request from Bute/Interbox: "we want $ 2M" (say), and we can only assume that they are implicitly waiting for a counter-offer of a comparable magnitude for fighting in England (which would be more than fair considering that Bute actually has a major belt). The problem for Hearn & Froch is that they probably cannot easily fulfill this kind of amount with their prospective public, so they have to look for extra funding. Were they facing a "monsterpurse" request as you claimed under the probability label, there would be little to look for since this kind of request would imply immediate negotiations cut-off. Due to the fact Hearn is still searching for something (otherwise he should have announced), we can only assume that he does not find unrealistic the (implicitly required or explicitly requested) amount. Anyway, in order to clarify better your position, please state: 1. what minimal amount (PF) should Froch be offered for a Montreal fight for you not labeling it "lowballing" 2. what maximal amount (PB) should Bute ask for fighting in England with Froch for you not labeling it "monsterpurse" 3. if PF > PB then you would have a huge double standard problem. Have a nice day.
IMO it's a lowball if Froch doesn't get (close to) a 50/50 split. In canada perhaps 55-60% or in England perhaps 45-40%. Homefield should count for some. Now a little simple mathematics. This match-up should quite easily attract a crowd of 20K. With an average ticketprice of $100 this generates 2M. Of course this event generates much more revenue than that. There'll be television from Britain and Canada. Showtime might not televise but I bet another yank network will. Then there's a little from overseas rights as well. Add to that the site-fee from the stadium and I'd estimate the gross revenue to be around 4M or at least not less than 3½M. Offering 1M for team Froch will not even be close to 50/50 even considering that you might need ½M for undercard and promotion.
If Showtime or HBO is silly enough not to air this fight, I hope EPIX takes it on. It would be a coup for them. They don't don't have a problem showing non-US fights, and they've done a decent job in airing the HW fights the past 2 weekends.
what is the constant in bute offers? ill tell you...no counter offers...in other words, bute called their bluff:bbb
So, what you're actually saying? Bute-Froch will be a much bigger event in the States, UK and Canada then the Super 6 final? Are you trolling the Super 6 tournament? :huh
Bearing a major belt should also count for something. At least Froch himself does agree with me: "I realise that's he's champion so it's down to what he wants in terms of monetary value, so commercially as long as it makes sense to him, the fight will happen in May in the UK." Funny guesses. Now take a look at this thread: the highest purse got by Bute in Montreal was $ 1.2M with Magee (Johnson match aside). The crowd was essentially the same, so you should not believe he could have got significantly more money than those $ 1.2M just because fighting Froch: these numbers give a fair idea about overall available amounts (keep in mind that challengers get always something less than the champion). Let's say that Bute's purse would have been (a guesstimate) no more than $ 1.5M: that would make a 60/40 split in favor of Bute, which should have been fair enough even from your point of view. Such purses correspond to a total available money of $ 2.5M, about 25% more than a 60/40 split guesstimated available total of $ 2M in the case of the Magee fight (keep in mind that the Magee fight was made with Showtime support while the same TV chain made crystal clear they aren't interested in a Bute/Froch fight, so the total warranted available amount should actually be not so high). On another hand, you should not put such emphasis on your speculative available money and alleged splits: a non-speculative $ 1M is a purse way better than anything Froch has earned for a single match in his professional career, this is by no means lowballing. Froch cannot reasonably expect a much higher amount even he and his team would like to: there is always a correlation between one's last income and the new proposal (just think to a professional soccer players: if they're good, the new prospective wage at a new club is usually higher than what they currently earn, but if they have a bad season and they are to change club, they will earn less; Froch has performed not so well in his last match yet he was offered more than he earned in that fight). Simple mathematics + complementary information freely available for who really wants to emit unbiased judgements.
Somewhat...but still lacking nonetheless... Please allow me to help further put it back on track.....: Bute's a glass jawed fraud which likes to hide in his home town fighting C- bums to make sure he always gets home town decisions... Make sure you properly register these facts cause I hate repeating myself, unfortunately for some...
Come on Drozzy.I thought we'd established that the likelihood of Froch being offerd a straight mil with no options or tie ins was at best, fanciful. At 35,if he'd been offered that,he's have bit Bute's hand off. Come on mate, you're better than this.
I'm not sure I understood your point: do you claim Bute in that interview has told a lie about the $ 1M offer to Froch?
