I currently have about 2000 boxing magazines in my collections and i am sure that some of them have gone backwards since the 1990s. I understand they may not have as much to write about but the quality of the content seems lacking. The biggest step back for me is Boxing Monthly, it is till the magazine that i buy most often but even the print quality of the from cover seems worse.
Primarily Ring and Boxing Illustrated.I stopped buying The Ring when Golden Boy purchased the company. The best(by far) was Flash Gordons "Tonite Boxing',which was simply a work of passion and inside info that will never be duplicated! Here's to Flash, whever he may be!:cheers
does anyone on here have the entire collection of boxing and wrestling from the 1950's?it started out as just a wrestlng magazine at first for about 5 issues i think in early 1951 0r 52.i think the entire complete set has 71 issues in all,i do have all the boxing editions but am still missing 2 or 3 of the early wresting magazines
Your a good man FC! Im right now sitting in the main hall of the ny pub lib where i usta see "da flash" back in the mid late 90s Then....POOF!!!
Malcolm Gordon belongs in Canastota. (But since he may be fearing for his physical safety, maybe he could send Woody Allen to collect the award on his behalf!)
In Addition to those, KO, and there was another one, Boxing Today, or something, damn good magazine.$1.75 wasn't bad back then.
Yes it does, it's also a lot thinner than it used to be. I get through it in one go nowadays. I will continue to buy it though
The Ring KO Boxing Illustrated World Boxing Boxing World (Formerly SA Boxing World) Those were the regulars. I don't think they're available in SA anymore. Haven't seen one in years.
The quality of the Ring has gone down since Golden Boy bought it. it's glossy and all butnot nearly as good as it used to be. I've stopped buying it.
