Heavyweight isn't my arena, I just know to stick my cash on the brothers

I watched Lebedev against Jones (through gritted teeth) and saw so many holes in Lebedev, then he signed to fight Toney and I saw it as a similar situation to when Green beat Jones and then took on Tarver.

On paper Lebedev is made for Toney, and JT had the chin to stay in the pocket all night, but :-(

I say things and notice things long before the commentary crews point them out. Not that most commentary crews are tremendous or anything, but... I'm pretty good at seeing a stoppage before it happens and generally predicting when and/or how it happens. I can draw connections between different fights, fighters, or situations of the past. I think I have a good sense of valuing "ring generalship," "defense," and "effective punching." I think could "commentate" well for probably about 150 fighters right now because I'm familiar with about that many guys' resume and have seen some of their fights. Wow, that was a whole lot of "me me me me, I I I I."

I think most people can break a fight down to some degree on this site. At least people at the RBR. Then again, the RBR reveals some crazies every time.

I've broken down most of the big fights, or the ones worth caring about. I don't always go into massive detail unless I wanna actually put the effort into it.

As far as Pac-Mayweather goes I've been saying the things bogotazo has been talking about on this forum for years. Actually going back to 2008/09 on my previous account I was making the same analyis when Pac first moved up to lightweight.

I thought that while Toney had the style to give Lebedev fits, I made my call based on the massive amount of weight that Toney lost for the fight. It seemed that any fight I could recall where a fighter had dropped so many lbs that they had looked absolutely terrible (e.g. Chris Byrd). I felt that Toney would have lost the ability to pull the trigger in a timely fashion to capitalise on the holes that his style should expose in Lebedev's defense. Also, fighters who lose that much weight tend to have poor punch resistance, I wouldn't have been suprised if even Toney had had been stopped. Lucky for him Lebedev is fairly gun shy when it comes to closing the show.

I like to think I have a good eye for studying fighters in general; I appreciate the compliments so far. I enjoy reading the posts from around 10 other posters around who enjoy the actual technical aspects of the sport, even if some of them are driven by considerable fan-based bias. A lot of times what you get out of the discussion and the breakdown is really valuable even if the prediction isn't exactly right. Usually, I go with an "If this, then that; otherwise, then this." That way, I can sit on my ass like Emmanuel Steward and go "this is going exactly as I predicted."

"Fighter A beats Fighter B and Fighter B beats fighter C then Fighter A must beat Fighter C"

That is how 98% of this message board breaks down a fight.

:good It's why I signed up to this forum, it's a pleasure to sit and debate with some posters about Boxing skill, tactics and other intangibles. I learn from it too.
