Time for Bute to find someone else coming off a loss if Froch isn't an option anymore.

What was the point of Ward re-tweeting some random fan's question only to say "I'm ready" in regards to a Bute fight? Nobody's questioning this ****?! It's the FIRST time he says something positive towards fighting Bute, ever (if you don't count pre-S6 Finale interviews).

well why would bute fight froch to me this fight doesnt make sense we need to know who the best man in the world at 168 is and froch obviously isnt after losing to ward and kessler not looking great againts glen johnson and being the benefit of a hometown robbery againts dirrell. Even againts taylor he was clearly losing and the pascal fight could of gone either way bute needs to fight ward or dirrell and then we will see who the best man at 168 is.

    ........stop right there.

Ward said MINUTES after he was done with Froch that "Bute needs to beat somebody" and dismissed the fight based on 'poor opposition'.

Ward's fans followed suit and defended (still do?) the idea that Bute "isn't worthy" with intensity and arrogance even though Ward, a nobody at the time of the making-of the Super Six, was handed a chance to be great by Showtime & Sauerland. He took it, and shined ever since. It's now time to give a fellow belt holder a chance, and with 3 belts on the line... this could be ****in huge. SHO PPV huge. Right in between the Money & Pac PPV's over at HBO.

Now that Ward might be open to the idea provided the money is right, what are those hardcore fans gonna say? Auracle, Cellz, Scar, Dipset, Magic, Imperial, Pimp C... did I miss anybody?!

Surely that Ward is doing Bute a huge favor by "fighting a nobody". Get those 180 degree excuses ready, boys. :p :D :good

I understand Ward and Froch both don't want to fight Bute now, for some reasons.

Then why doesn't Bute fight Andre Direll ? He's still a big name at SMW, would be a big draw in Montreal (or Quebec) and if Bute beats him, it would leave Ward with no reason to fight him.

Hmm. You joined in the same month I did, and your post count tells me you might not have followed all the fight talk that went down since the S6 finals. :?

Andre Dirrell, through his uncle, said he wouldn't fight Bute in Montreal. Wanted the fight in Detroit, where his uncle Leon Lawson would have to put together the entire card and pay everyone...... that's Team Dirrell Promotions for ya. So all in all, even though Showtime had Dirrell on deck to fight Bute after he sparked Cunningham up, Dirrell backed out of the fight knowing (or not) that the only location that made sense was QC.

Anthony Dirrell is still with Shaw & Haymon, and has tweeted "my son was just born, I'm with him" three different times since the 3rd week of January. Not fighting anytime soon (even if Magic was making fun of my new-father theory).

Andre says he's working on fighting "a top contender from here" at this point. Not Bute.

    *******************************

    27 Jan 2012, from the Scene;

The Scene was advised by Leon Lawson Jr, the uncle and trainer of Andre Dirrell, that they have decided to leave promoter Gary Shaw and advisor Al Haymon in order to start their own promotional company named Team Dirrell Promotions.

This news comes on the heels of earlier reports that Showtime had rejected a proposed fight between Super Middleweight champion Lucian Bute and Carl Froch. According to Bute’s promoter Jean Bedard of Interbox, Showtime was more interested in matching their fighter with Dirrell.

While no official negotiations have begun with Showtime, Lawson said that going to Canada to fight Bute is out of the question.

“We are not going to Canada. We’ve seen what’s happened already” said Lawson. “We can have the fight in the states. We can fight in Detroit at the Joe Louis Arena. There’s also the Silverdome. Canada and Detroit are separated by the Ambassador Bridge so his fans can still come over and watch [Bute] fight.”

Leon said they will meet with new Showtime Executive Vice President Stephen Espinoza in the next couple days to see about making the fight with Lucian Bute.

When reached for comment, Shaw told the Scene - "Good luck Andre Dirrell."

    *******************************

Lawson is delusional. Detroit is an 8-9 hr drive from Montreal. :verysad

I sometimes wonder if Ward said all that to hype things up. I mean days prior to Super 6 final everyone knew that the winner was going to fight Bute. And then right after winning, Ward saidthe complete opposite. May be it was a marketing strategy to get everyone hyped us, may be he wanted Bute to fight Froch to get a better look at Bute and then when Froch's team slowed negotiations down realized that he (Ward) can steal the Showtime show and make some real money and show everyone how good he is....

He was mad. He really was. He looked at that reporter like Christianity never existed.

(can't logically use a hand injury to justify that kind of talk)

Money brought him back to reality. Hopefully. :good

Thanks man. I didn't know that. I'm a big fan of Bute but haven't followed much boxing in the last months. I just thought it's a fight that could have happened....

So, who's available to fight Bute then ?

Froch needs the fight but he cant make any moeny at home he is just not a draw he needs to pack up and go to Canada and get used to a career of travelling for bigger fights
