Pacquiao has never been warned or suspended of any cheating. His camp is not even hiding the way they wrap. So until something changes, every fighter can use ridges or whatever else Manny's using, just not rope or plaster or whatever else Margorito used.

People like to bring up the last Marquez fight and say why didn't Manny's face look as swollen? Because he got hit with fewer shots. A well timed power punch looks good and all but volume is what busts up faces. Just look at Huck in a recent fight, he was landing big haymakers but he was the one the looked beat up at the end.

Wrapping a fighters hands only purpose is to protect the fighters hands.... That's true, but in other contact sports like football, the helmets only purpose is to protect the mellon..... But their are rules and regulations in place that prevent players using the helmet in ways that increase the chance of player injuries.. a boxers fists need protection but they are also used to inflict damage...some find ways to use their tools unfairly.

With that said......too many ******ed fans overly use the wraps excuse to rationalize or explain why their guy lost.

You may as well say a kitchen knife could never be dangerous because it's designed to cut bread.

Boxing gloves can increase punching power actually. Its all about the weight distribution of the glove ie. Reyes gloves are known for being "punchers gloves"

A lot of what you are saying is right about the handwraps and about them being for the protection of a fighters hands but you fail to miss the reason why so much attention is paid to the wrapping of hands and selction of gloves.

The rules state that only a certain amount of tape and gauze can be used and so this must be monitored. There are other factors such as inserting illegal substances into the wraps or gloves (ie Mosley v Margarito) or even removing substances from gloves (ie Billy Collins Jr v Luis Resto) You also have things like leaving wraps in ice water to harder ala Tito Trinadad.

These are some of the reasons why so much attention is payed to the wrapping of hands.

I think it's commission by commission. I think i remember a fight where Joe Souza was told he wasnt allowed to have the gauze touching (think it was DLH) knuckle and therefore had to stack. Could be wrong though.

This is the worst thread by far in a long time, on par with MichiganWarriors floored thread.

I guess, Cuenca, Marquez next opponent doesn't use hand wraps.

This bald ropid ridden muppet should stick to telling people when to eat a bannana.

    Leave hand wrapping to trainers

Yea so if someone needs alot of protection on their hands they should be allowed to use plaster of paris or even metal braces in their gloves. It would protect them better.

People are not bringing up Pacs wrap for no reason. As documented he started using these wraps in the DLH fight. Ever since then he has been inflicting alot of damage on peoples faces.
    DLH - broken orbital bone
    Margarito - broken orbital bone
Cotto - destoyed his face but that happens alot though
Mosley - he mentioned how his punches just damage you so much. Mosley has been in with some big punchers and never complained about punches.
Clottey - well who cares but im sure his gloves felt alot of impact

Just think about it. YOu are punching someone with ridges of hard tape on your fist. How would that not help the damage you cause?

and there you go folks. "tweaked" handwrapping makes your punches harder. thank you kind sir for enlightening the ESB population on your genius contribution.

Where did I say on my post anything about punching harder??

I said it increases the damage you are causing because you have ridges on your wrap. Some of you I swear have never even wrapped your hands before or let alone put on some boxing gloves.

Don't know much about anything really, but one thing I am certain about Margarito was loaded when he beat Cintron.

Would you be willing to let someone poke you in the eye with one. or hit you with the handle?
