Who is the better boxing trainer, Teddy Atlas or Manny Steward?

Did Povetkin improve with Teddy? It sure didn't look like it on Saturday. Has Teddy ever left a fighter he trained on good terms?

Who is the more mentally stable? Would Steward take a gun and go to the apartment of a fighter he trained who fired him with murderous intent? I can't imagine Emanuel doing something like that.

The guy that seemingly couldn't get a fight prediction right if his life depended on it VS the guy that always says a fight went exactly like he tought it would, but only when it's over.....

Ask Hearns or Wlad their opinion of Steward, they'll speak well of him.

But if you ask Briggs, Moorer, LaLonde, Grant, etc their opinion of Teddy, they'll say he's a control freak and something of a nutcase.

Other fighters who know Teddy speak badly of him:

Teddy just comes across as a guy who needs to control you mentally for some reason. He wants fighters to be mentally in his hip pocket so he can break down a guy with his words. He wants fighters to be mentally dependent on him i guess.

Manny just made Lennox the best heavy of all times imo, and another one top 5 Wlad.

    Speaks for itself.

Atlas's crowning moment as a trainer is really overblown anyway. Moorer didn't even listen to Atlas in the rounds after Atlas pleaded with him to fight harder. Atlas was saying the right things, then Moorer would go out and sleepwalk some more.

Interesting how guys like Moorer and Briggs gave their most valiant efforts and fought with more passion in fights with other trainers in their corner.

Steward. He's slowed down now which is a shame (nobody beats time) but he's produced brilliant talent over the years.

Atlas is tricky to judge, I have alot of respect for his training ability and how he looks at the game, and fully understand why he doesn't train many fighters these days, from a purists view of a bygone era, the game is very different today.

What I would like to see Atlas do, is similar to what Steward does with his school for teaching coaches how to train fighters. Cus D'Amato's secrets are probably going to die with Atlas, Mike and Rooney and that would be a huge loss that we'd never get back.

When there's no cameras or stars or political motivations (as there was with Povetkin) I think Atlas would do very well, no cameras; no stage to be a primidonna, just impart your knowlege, show others what you know.

Listen to what George Foreman says about Teddy here:

And listen to what Manny Steward says about Teddy "too much lecturing, not enough training":
