I'm curious why you feel that way about Armstrong?

There is nothing to suggest Hopkins' legacy should've surpassed Jones' legacy but longevity. And if you argue that, you might as well argue Foreman>Ali, while you're at it. It's just wrong.

Chisora would walk Haye down and KO him

    The Klitschkos are both ATGs

Prime Calzaghe would beat any version of RJJ at 168

    James Toney is extremely overrated

The slickest fighter of all time was white.

The best brawler of all time was black.

The greatest latino fighter was not Duran.

Britains best ever boxer was Jewish.

Greatest IQ in a boxing ring was Gene Tunney.

If Bernard Hopkins was anything but a black American he would be critisized for his really ugly style of boxing.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao would not be unbeaten at Welter in the 90's , 80's or 70's.

Todays fighters are fitter than ever before , but dont have the same fundamentals in place, foot work , defence and correct punching are all lacking except for a chosen few.

I think there were a et of circumstances that made his achievements less remarkable than they appear on the surface. Not in any way suggesting that they weren't outstanding or that Armstrong isn't an ATG, but it's just not quite as mind-boggling as legend has it:

    1) His welterweight title win was against a faded Ross, who was a small welterweight

    2) Ross himself had held titles in 3 divisions concurrently, although not the 8 traditional ones

    3) Armstrong quickly lost the lightweight title to Ambers

    4) The 147 title was the only one he defended, and his list of challengers is relatively weak

    5) He lost the title to Zivic, who had dozens of losses, losing the rematch as well.

    6) His challenge for the middleweight title was against Garcia, who had already lost to Ross and Armstrong at 147

    7) His accomplishments before and after the triple crown are solid but not spectacular.

    8) Prior to Armstrong, Ketchel and McGovern had beaten champions in 3 traditional weight divisions within 18 months, although for various reasons not held all 3 championships

-Rigondeaux and Ward above Pacquiao in p4p.

-Márquez and Finito López the best mexicans ever.

    -Valuev beats Willard and Carnera.

-Valuev beats Dempsey (Don't kill me please)

-Donaire painted in red his wraps and faked his injury in his last fight.

-The shoulder injury of Vitali in his last fight was also fake.

    -JCC very good but overrated.

-SMW division pure garbage except Ward and maybe Bute (Maybe).

I'm more upset over Rigo being rated P4P than about Valuev beating Dempsey

I don't see his proffesional resume allowing him entrance to a proffesional P4P list. How would you justify that? :think

There is a thread like this in the classic, so I will try to avoid imputing my historical opinions and save them for the thread over there.

Alexander Potvikin is overrated and ripe for the taking he'll beat Hasim Rahman, butn will lose in his next defense.

If Floyd Mayweather wants to assure his place as a top 10 or even 5 all time great he needs to conquar 154 and than chalange whoever is the king at 160. I'm predicting that it is going to be eaither Peter Quillin or Gennady Golovkin. beating Peter Quillin or Gennady Golovkin will move him into the top 5. There is no one at 147 who who is going to be compitive with Mayweather. Yes that includs Manny Pacquiao.

Speaking of Manny Pacquiaoafter beating Timothy Bradley. He will fight Mike Jones. Mike Jones will win.

After Mike Jones beats Pacquiao. Bob Arum will show more williness to make Jones/Mayweather than he ever did Pacquiao/Mayweather.
(Mayweather will beat Jones at 150 or 154.)

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr may not be as talented as his father, burt he will do something his father couldn't do. Win championships in 4 weight classes. 160, 168, 175 and 200.

In 2013 Seth Mitchell will beat one if not both of the Brothers Klitchko.

If your a boxing fan you have to be a fan of both Mayweather and Pac-man...like how could you not be!

Joe Calzaghe is not an elite fighter nor did he ever beat an elite fighter WHEN THEY WERE ELITE!

I don't want to see B-hop fight anymore.

I hate boxing writers who have mailbags and act like they are whipping people asses in a mailbag. that **** is ****ing laaaaame.

It's not controversial, more or less taboo, but I believe confidently that 70% of athletes are on PED's for at least some part of a calendar year.

-Sergio will soon lose in a fight he is favored.

-The Klitschko's will only lose between the two of them by the time both are retired.

-Flyweight has the best top tier of a division at the moment, WW aside, (Wonjongkam, Viloria, Marquez, Mthalane).

    -Hopkins faked his injury.

-Bradley, even moving up, will be one of Pacquiao's best career victories (behind Barrera I, Cotto, Sasakul, Hatton, maybe Ledwaba or Morales I).

-Khan never ever deserved to be ranked ahead of Bradley at 140. Anyone who did should admit they were very wrong as frequently as they sported the idea of Khan being #1 at 140. I recall A TON of people holding that opinion.

-James Kirkland DOES have a weak chin which will get him stopped early on against the right (or wrong) opposition.

-I think Rios will beat Gamboa.

-Speaking of Gamboa, #16 is the absolute highest I can rank him P4P. Those who put him top 10 need to follow divisons under flyweight to discover Wonjongkam and Moreno, who are undeniably better than Gamboa UNLESS you base your list on personal opinion of their skills. In which case, you could put Tyson Fury in a top 10 and say, "shut up and let us wait and see..." Gamboa in the top 10 = dumbass idea

-YP Hernandez will not defend his lineal claim as CW king more than twice.

-Pavlik and Abraham will not return to their former glory or the world class stage.

-Ivan Calderon, already a HOF, will earn the last big stamp of approval when he moves back down to minimumweight and picks up the WBC title from Moises Fuentes this April.

-Dawson will beat Hopkins and continue to reign over the division accumulating victories over guys at unsexy times (too old, coming off a loss, already exposed, etc.) which prevents him from achieving the popularity someone of his accomplishment deserves.
