I sot of want Pettis to **** off, I don't like him. If Frankie wants a rematch, Frankie should get a rematch. There is nobody more deserving of one, ever.
Why??? :huh I'm not being a dick, asking genuinely. They fought, and he got beat up, he lost, he lost a UD. On what grounds should there be an immediate rematch? There was no controversy over the decision, Henderson was a very worthy winner. I honestly don't understand why this is an issue. Maynard got a rematch with Edgar because there was no winner in their fight, it was a draw, so a rematch was highly merited, to find out who the better man was. Edgar-Henderson was not a draw, Edgar got tooled and lost convincingly, I had it 4-1 Henderson. Shogun Rua didn't get an immediate rematch with Dan Henderson despite some controversy over the scoring of that fight, Urijah Faber didn't get an immediate rematch with Dominick Cruz despite it being a great title fight (like Hendo-Edgar was). Edgar is 1-1-1 in his last 3 fights, why should he automatically be ahead of Gilbert Melendez in the race for the title? I don't see it, at all.
There is a degree of controversy, a lot of people thought Edgar won. Personally I had it 3-2 Bendo but those rounds were close.
He is ridiculously exciting (not counting the Guida and Stephens fights) and his fist fight with Bendo is one of the greatest of all time. I love that we may be getting that rematch now for the UFC title. Really shows how good of an org WEC was.
Just imagine....just IMAGINE....if Pettos pulls off another Showtime kick Judt for the hilarity of it. I had the first to Pettis 3-2 and it was a great fight. I think Henderson will take it this time.
That's because you're silly, Popkins. Frankie Edgar beat BJ Penn and gave him a rematch whether he asked for it or not, then did the same for Gray Maynard twice. Point is, he didn't bottle it, he's only owed it after granting two. Besides, there's really nobody at the top echelon of lightweights who haven't been beaten by the other. It can simmer for a little longer. Who's Frankie gonna fight? Guida? Come on, don't shove him out the division.
He rematched Maynard because they DREW, not to mention he was beat in their first fight, any one that didn't think a rematch after a DRAW was in order is utterly ******ed. The Penn rematch as merely because it was BJ Penn, it was a good fight, and financially the best thing they could do at LW. Frankie was beaten convincingly, this wasn't a SD, nor a draw, two wrong's don't make a right, therefore there should be no immediate rematch here.
Penn-Edgar 1 was a closer and more controversial fight than Henderson-Edgar anyway. People are confusing competitiveness with closeness here. Henderson-Edgar was highly competitive throughout, but it was not a close fight. Frankie never gave up, but he got busted up and beaten up.
It wasn't out of ignorance, I was just tired and didn't want to make this a deep discussion. I just think Frankie's entitled to it, that's all. And bollocks to the one sided division, it was a close fight that could've swung either way due to one round, and the scorecards were a load of ****.
