Nah! Wladimir would handle Toney easily. Vitali would have a tougher fight against Toney than Wladimir would. You aren't going to outbox Wladimir, the only way to beat Wlad is to stop him. Toney aint doin that, so Wladimir by either a late stoppage or a wide UD.
I think a freshly moved up Toney would have had a chance, but I still favor either Klitschko brother over him. It seems that to have success against the K bros, you need to be defensive while coming forward, and at this stage, his mobility wasn't all that. Relying on a defensive shell on the outside simply wouldn't have worked against their long jabs and expert control of distance, and coming forward in the shape he was in would have had him walk into a shot much more likely than land one.
James Toney doesn't belong in the same ring as Wladimir. He is irrelevant in the top boxing picture. He has no mobilty and would be a punching bag until the ref stopped the fight from bleeding all over the ring.
