Can Carter wins this ? We know Steele is the greater fighter, of course....but Carter is a guy capable to upset fighters greater than him.....

Steele by UD.....outboxing Carter.....he is a better boxer than Giardello, Archer, and Benton......IMO

9-6 decision.....Carter proved how good he was against some tough opposition, but I can´´t see nothing but a Steele win here......

If Carter couldn't do much with an old Joey Giardello who was 34 years old, he don't beat
the great Freddie Steele, prime for prime...Freddie Steele was almost undefeated for TEN YEARS, until a fractured breastbone ended his great career. I have Steele by a ko in 8 rds...Steele was one of the greatest middleweights of his time and AFTER...

True.....He is the favorite to win this tourney in my view.....he isn´t mentioned too much around here so that was the main reason for this induction, but probably isn´t fair to the others since he is the greater one almost every time in this tournament......

I agree with a Steele victory here, and I agree he IS one of the greatest middleweights forsure, But I have always reminded people that Freddie Steele can't be put forward alone, not without the rememberance of the fearsome Jock McAvoy, talk about forgotten fighters, he is always forgotten.

McAvoy was the most feared British & European middleweight and the American's didn't want to know him, he destroyed Risko, beat Anson Wilson I think it was, defeated the also favourite L-HW cum HW Al McCoy, and then of course took John Henry Lewis to task for 15.

McAvoy ALWAYS gets left out, and he is equally one of the greatest middleweights of alltime... Ranked as a Top 10 MW & a L-HW in 1938 & 39, Jock also competed with and beat a string of bigger men in Britain. Cross record checking shows he was better than most of his middleweight contemporaries. Dempsey said he was the Greatest from across the pond since Ted Kid Lewis - and they didn't want to know him at middleweight!

you can't discuss these 30s & 40s middleweights without him, it's not accurate nor fair. No Steele nor any of them without good Ol Jock McAvoy!!!!

Steele intrigues the hell out of me..he's worth the time to research his fights on You Tube.

I've never taken the time to study Freddie. A quick look he looks pretty impressive (at least the numbers do anyway). Will hae to delve a little deeper :good
