I don't think he'll have too much trouble with Pac as long as he doesn't stay in front of him like he did against Mosley and Ortiz.. IMO his biggest challenge will be Martinez at 154; Serge's combination of size, speed, movement and power will be an enormous task for Floyd to overcome. Hopefully he takes these fights and proves he's as good as he thinks he is instead of just saying it.

Ah, guess I didn't catch it because you mentioned Patterson instead of Louis/Marciano.

Frazier never made it seem okay. He was ripping in the post-fight interviews and always talked about how he was never going to talk to Futch again. How was it well known that Ali was gonna quit? About as well known that Ali wanted to quit against Liston... except Dundee pushed him out. I'm sure the same thing would've happened. You're holding onto a straw-man argument my man.

Oh, but Ali wasn't past it for Norton? Ali was definitely more past it for the 3rd Norton fight than Louis was for Walcott. Not just in age (34 compared to 33) but in wear & tear.

Nah, I think the 2nd fight was pretty decisive. About as decisive as Marquez beating Pac the 2nd time around (But without any actual knockdowns).

Norton was definitely a style issue for Ali, who was past his best. You have to give Eddie Futch credit. He was a ring genius in developing both strategies and tactics for Frazier and Norton; both of Ali's biggest foils.

Louis can definitely be argued over Ali so I won't persist on that point, although I'll disagree just because I feel Ali's resume/era are superior. But they are both locks at 1-2. In terms of P4P, I'd probably have Ali at the later part of a top 10 and Louis outside my top 10, anyhow. Robinson, Greb, Armstrong, Langford, Charles, Benny Leonard are all superior in record & achievement.

Okay, that doesn't surprise me considering I think less of Mayweather's opposition.

I'll concede, it's not a "easy" argument. But Whitaker was more multi-layered in his defense as far as I'm concerned.

Fair point. Although the Judah knockdown looked pretty legit. If true, compare Judah to McGirt or Uncle Roger.

]quote]Whitaker defense was primarily based on his spider sense like reaction times, and athleticism. Where as Mayweather is more technical, as to why Mayweather is still a master at 35. And Whitaker was completely done by that age.[/quote]

A 33 year old Whitaker, past his best weight and prime fought a prime Oscar at his best division better than Floyd did. Forget the official record. That tells you a lot abut the differences between Whitaker and Floyd in terms of ability and greatness. Even if Mayweather is superior defensively...

I agree I think he is the best defensive fighter ever, but not best overall.

Floyd once said, that if a fighter doesn't feel that they are the best the should even be in the ring. None on ESB, except for me( JK ) can even begin to understand what its like to dominate so long at the highest level such as Floyd can. It takes a certain amount of ego and drive whether its silent or loud to say such things and back it up.

As much money as Floyd has made me, to me he is the greatest athlete ever. Find me a boxer/ athlete that makes me more money and Floyd will move into a cushy number 2 spot. Most of you are fan boy/girls. Grow up its about making money. Athletes don't care about you.
