That last sentence takes much of the wind out of both your last posts.

Toney was pretty drained during this fight as a result of struggling to make weight. Does that put some of the other performances mentioned slightly ahead?

Great performance, but Toney was a walking zombie in the fight. I would liked to have seen a rematch with a more motivated Toney. We could have seen a better, more competitive fight between 2 great fighters, although styles do make fights, and Jones' style was just bad for Toney

shouldn't. Toney had done nothing but ***** about making 160 and how badly he wanted to move up to 168, and he looked plenty meaty there. His own stupid fault if he had trouble making weight.

The guy is 5'9".....there is no way he should have trouble making that weight with his build.

Jones' performance against Toney was as close to flawless as it gets. What did he do wrong ?
And Toney was one of the top 2 or 3 fighters in the world (pound for pound) at the time.
Jones did not allow Toney to perform well. He simply outclassed him. "weight drained" is the oldest excuse in the book, chapter 1 in the boxing book of face-saving excuses.

Its hard to think of an instance where one fighter comes up in weight to fight a top 3 P4Per, who is regarded as a top 50 P4P fighter of all time and one of the top fighters in the weight class of all time and beats him.

There are a few instances but none with the level of domination.

A fight like Duran vs Leonard 1 comes to mind, but it lacks the domination in my opinion.

    Although true in this case.

I just don't think it matters all that much. Jones was nowhere Toney looked for him.

Not taking standard of opposition into account: Whitaker vs McGirt II (as Buddy was much faded from his prime by then IMO)

Although the standard of opposition is better, Duran was no where near as dominating.
