Almost certainly would have been a 'world champion' in more recent eras with the proliferation of titles and weight divisions. R.I.P.
Very sad news. As you say he was good enough to have been a world champ, in a different era. He came from the next town to me ,I remember him very well. R. I .P.

Having chances and failing doesn't stop you from being potentially among the best of a region not to have won a title. Especially if you happen to be fighting great fighters for your title shots or are past your best when you get them.
TRUE. but still there are many far better to choose from. Graham has enjoyed the hype of modern press and exploitation, many others have been plumb forgotten, but as I said good fighter, just hyped up a bit! R.I.P and thanks to Dave Charnley!
Rudkin is easily on Charnley's level. He fought in the greatest era of bantams picked up multiple wins against gold contenders, went the distance with prime Harada in Japan, was unlucky against prime Lionel Rose in Australia, then went in with Olivares, IIRC at the Inglewood Forum, at the peak of Olivares' destructive prime. That is ridiculous. He had a degree of success against all of those guys. He is in the top tier of Brits never to win a title, that cannot be disputed. Harada one of the true P4P greats of boxing, and Rudkin took rounds off him.
