Non-boxing fans have no idea who either Rios or Gamboa are.

Hell, a boxing fan who was in an 18 month coma probably wouldn't know who Rios is.

A fight like Rios vs. Gamboa excites and generates excitement amongst boxing community, but does nothing for the sport in terms of mainstream and recognition.

It's pretty easy to understand, guys.

Rios vs. Gamboa was sanctioned for the vacant WBA lightweight title on account of Rios being the most recent champion.

Abril is saying that Rios should be fighting him instead, as he is the mandatory for the vacant belt which Rios is fighting for.

If you don't understand that, let me know.

    Yes and no.

I totally see what you're saying, and you're obviously correct to some degree. But also very wrong at the same time.

Boxing FANS didn't even appreciate or pay any extra attention to Segura vs. Calderon I. That was FOTY, got no hype or talk, and those twos' careers were not followed or appreciated any more because of that dream fight.

I would of never thought in a million years that an annoying Chicano like Rios could make a fan out of a die hard Cubano. Rios must be more likeable in person.

Thanks for that Youtube vid Kid Cubano, good stuff! :good

So no one fron Team Gamboa show up? No one at all?

That's kind of ridiculous. WBA shouldn't be sanctioning this bout. Rios lost his title because he failed to make weight. They shouldn't be giving him an immediate chance to try again. Makes sense.

    It's totally weak.

    I agree.

The WBA should have either A) ordered Rios vs. Abril immediately, or B) sanctioned Abril vs. next highest contender for the vacant belt.

**** this fight better not be cancelled. i was talking to my gf and we want to take a get away to Vegas. I immediately thought of the date of this fight and she said yes. I wonder whether Gamboa will come through now...

I checked out ticket prices and they showed tickets for 260 as the best available seats. I think they stated they were ringside seats. Doesn't that seem too cheap?

He wasn't grooming Gamboa he was keep him down because he doesn't own the whole contract, and Gamboa is being an a$$hole for not showing up at the Versalles restaurant, what is done is done he is making Arum paying for his lack of promotion, but his fans are the one that are paying if he keeps this up I'll be rooting for Rios...
