Marciano had full title, and beat several Hall Of Famers. May be greatest ever, definitely one of greatest.

Moore held title 4 more years, and had one of his greatest wins, over Durelle, 2 years after Marciano bout. Marciano wanted to retire before he fought Moore, if he had not fought him, a million "Why did Rocky duck Moore" threads would have been posted by now.

Who was the tallest fighter that Rocky fought? I need to watch that fight and analysis the bout to make a mathematical equation to properly answer the question.

Wlads height and jab could be problematic

He was making a valid point just like the post about weight, you can pick either mans opponents apart for different reasons.

Marcian only weighed 185 lbs., he was too small, it was a different era then. Vitali or Vlad way too big, not just big, but big and skilled...............

You have proved that all you know about boxing is what you have heard from some bogan at the pub.
From the sounds of it, you have never watched a match.

Marciano, without question is the most overhyped talentless **** to ever lace up a glove!

The guy feasted on cans his entire career, often fighting bums with 5 or more losses on the trott.

More than 60% of his fights where against fighters coming off a loss.

His only 'noteable' wins against ancient and shot fighters.

As a heavyweight today he would not win a fight against anyone in the top 50, and this is a **** era!

The guy would not win a fight against current c/w top 10

They guy would likely have only won one fight if he was competing against the SMW from the super6.

TOTAL ****ING FRAUD< and only dumb americans think any different

    ROCKY< C grade **** of a boxer!:deal

It is insulting to Wlad and Vitali to even have that no talent **** (Marciano) mentioned in the same breath as their names.

He would not last a round, and does not deserve to be spoken about as a serious heavy weight, as he is a nothing heavy weight!

Really? I know nothing about boxing. LOL. Okay bro. Go look at HOF fighters top HW list, historians, experts, and you will see how stupid you look saying he isn't a top 100 HW. There isn't even 100 undisputed HW champs.

SIT THE **** DOWN, I win.

Marciano belongs in his time, his accomplishments have merit for his era. Head-to-head, A 2012 Wlad would decapitate a 50s Marciano.

The tallest guy of note that I know of that he fought was a young prospect named Carmine Vingo who was 6'4. This is what happened to him:

    This content is protected

He nearly died after this, had a brain hemorrhage. He never fought again due to the effect of the beating and Marciano almost didn't either, because it scared him to nearly kill a guy.

He knows, dude. He's obviously a troll and he's just made my ignore list. I can't believe how ignorant some of the posts that seem geuine are though.

The Cruiserweight reference was not meant to be taken literal, but rather the weight in which the bout was fought. Holyfield and Qawi were both at 190 lbs, which is incidently the highest Marciano fought at, as well as most of his opposition. Why shouldnt the Qawi scalp count? Because the definition of the weight class changed? It either counts or Marciano is a Cruiserweight. I prefer the former.

Anything analyzed or talked about not of the present or future could be defined as retrospect. It makes it no less true. Here, It's important to consider the circumstances both going into and after a fight. Tyson was reclaiming his straps while Holyfield was reduced to fighting Bobby Czyz after the third Bowe fight in which he couldnt evenr support his own weight and was falling to the canvas before Bowe's shot connected. Turns out - in retrospect - he was battling Hepatitus A. Not exactly insignificant. Holyfield was a 15-1 underdog against 45-1 Tyson. That's just what it was. He still had to withstand Tyson's power and it's a great win. Charles had almost double the number of fights.

OTOH, If you cant see the 1991 version of Foreman as a superior fighter to '51 Louis on a particular time specific comparison, I honestly dont know what to tell you other than to cease being intellectually dishonest. Foreman didnt rely on reflexes, timing and speed nearly to the extent as Louis did. Foreman got by on brute jackhammer force and had lost very little if any of it. While the killer instinct was long gone, his ability to absorb a blow with the added weight was improved. Then yes, he won the title three years afterward which fairly adds to the significance of the win. Had he been KTFO (funny), it would paint a different picture. That's just what happened.

As far as what Tyson accomplished afterwards: He came into the second fight in the best physical condition he'd been seen in since 1991 and promptly got himself DQ'ed and in the process earned himself a suspension which turned into an 18 month layoff while his skills continued to erode. He remained a top 10 fighter from 1999-2003 without losing a bout sans Lewis before tearing his ACL in the first round against Danny Williams in a fight he immediately took full control over from the beginning. In any case, I'd say wins over Botha, Golota, Savarese, et al. is soundly better than what Louis or Walcott for that matter did post-Marciano in that neither of them fought again. Charles faded into obscurity.

Which fighter did Marciano beat that had the same advantages and talent as 24-25 year old Riddick Bowe? He lacked a consistent work ethic and was fairly easy to hit. Other than that, a 6-5 SHW with an 81" reach, exceptional jab, exceptional inside skills (something both Klitschkos severely lack by comparison), great body attack, reasonably quick hands, crisp combination punching and a good chin. On the basis of physical attributes, skill set and ability I'd easily include him among the top ten heavyweight talents of all-time.

Moorer was a top ten fixture consecutively from 1991-98, spending a majority of the time inside the top five. Yes, it was also a very good win as it was an avenged defeat. Thorough too.
