In what context did he say the above? Because are you sure he wasn't referring to the Floyd negotiations recently? As in something like: "For this fight with Floyd now, I never spoke to Arum to push for it at any time. I made this fight myself". Because Cotto was still involved with Arum in some way when this fight was made. I think he and Arum were are consigned to a fight-by-fight deal should Cotto want to use him.

Does that^^ sound like turning a blind eye to you? There are numerous other articles I could find where he's talked about wanting Mayweather, but I'm on my work computer and can't roam freely. But the above does dispel the myth that Cotto never asked for him. You don't have to shout from roof-tops to express your desire to fight someone, you know. Miguel has always been a laid-back person that would rarely ever go throwing peoples names. It's silly to suggest that, because of this, he wanted no part of Mayweather or anyone else.

Who cares what tongue he speaks in? As long as he's doing the calling out proving he wasn't ignoring the Mayweather fight, then that's enough to debunk this thread and the claim that he didn't want Mayweather. But if you still want statements in English (not that it'll make a difference - you'll still find it difficult to grasp what's being said/written), then I've thrown a few more quotes in which prove Cotto was aware of and did want the Mayweather fight.

 

The majority of spanish **** translated in their respective media rarely ever makes it's way back to US soil, let alone to the fighter in discussion. Anyone can talk tough overseas. But the fact remains Cotto never opened his mouth in his own damn country so how is anyone gonna take him serious.

Fact is cotto admitted at no point did he ever push for a fight with floyd mayweather. This reinforces what floyd has said for years, cotto's fans can't call me out and fight for him. He has to do it himself. The fact cotto didn't speaks volumes.
