 i guess because he came in at 173. Looking to get back to 160! Im thinking they want to see if his power tranfers up in weight with a guy who fought at LHW and Cruiserweight!

Still kind of counts as draining a guy who's never been within closer than 3lbs of making that mark in his whole career...and who's recently competed as a cruiserweight in the mid-180s.

170 is much closer to SMW than to LHW.

Uh, no. You don't round 3/4 of a pound down. You round up.

He was far closer to 173 than 172 if you want to be exact. If there was a 172 lbs division, he'd have been overweight by most of a pound.

173 is basically his career low. And that 185 career high wasn't so long ago...

I think the 170lb catch weight is b/c they want to focus on just getting in the ring and looking good. I imagine Pavlik won't be weighing much over that 170 mark, same as he would had the fight been at 160. At this point in time no need to play the down & up weight game. Just look good and create a little buzz, unlike the Lopez fight.

Still. Why not just have it be a LHW bout, and let the chips fall where they may with Kelly. If he fails in camp and is unable to cut down, no biggie - he's covered. If he comes in somewhere in the 160's - fabulous. It's not like that hurts him in any way.

Is anyone honestly expected to believe that it would be a legitimate difference-making advantage for Aaron to come in ten pounds heavier than Kelly? That is a straight-up insult to everybody's intelligence.

He could be 185 to Kelly's 165 and would still get KTFO in the first two rounds. :deal
