a fully recovered kp is dangerous. if he can get back to his taylor form he beats chavez and could beat martinez.

sergio martinez is one of the most overrated mw champions ever.

i think joppy may have beaten him as he went 12 rounds with a motivated hopkins(they had a 100k bet that b-hop would not tko/ko him).

martinez would get destroyed, humilated and ko'd by a prime 160 hopkins.

Pavlik seems to be facing a guy with almost no chance but the important thing is to get Pavlik back in the ring. I think the plan of this fight, a more credible opponent on the Pac-Bradley undercard, and then a big fight with Chavez is a very good path for Pavlik if it happens.

I'm not sure why the 170 catchweight, I don't know if thats an indicator he can't make middleweight or not, but I've always been a bit skeptical he'd ever fight at 160 again. Either 160 or 68 is fine with me I'd just like to see Pavlik back and serious about his career again.

I will concede that Pavlik has looked good in those video's floating around, and I think Garcia will help him alot...that being said that Lopez fight just sticks in my mind, he looked so slow and just overall shitty, I'm not sure I'm ready to buy into Kelly again. All that being said, I would love to see him beat the dog **** out of JCC-J.

Don't hate him because he's sexy. :bart

He whipped Pavlik fair and square and would have done the same to Taylor era Pavlik.

Pavlik beating Maravilla is a pipe dream.

Put the pipe down and stop dreaming.

    Chavez, though...

THAT is a realistic goal...if Pavlik regains old form. :good

This is a smart move a guaranteed win vs a guy who wont do much and he gets to practice his new game with Garcia

He has time and if this is done right he can make a nice comeback

I dont know, Pavlik was way more motivated back then and hungrier

seeing the heart he displayed vs Taylor in that 2nd round says it all

plus the Martinez fight was close on the cards after the knockdown and then Martinez didnt really start really crushing him til the bad cut

And yet if Kelly's at 75% of his old self, he'd starch Chavez Jr. :deal

That's your opinion. Taylor era Pavlik would have been extremely competitive against Martinez.
