One thing for sure, PAC was way over rated. Definitely not in the same class as Floyd.

They're career accomplishments are certainly comparable, and this thread is trying to flesh out which dynamics are or aren't likely to present themselves between the two should they ever fight.

Pacquaio must take care, he is not beyond Mayweather knocking him out, I really do believe that.

I think Mayweather is the Ring General here, beyond doubt. I think his positioning will over come Pac's manouverability. Similar to an American Football game where the back blocks the runner, the guy running is moving quicker and takes more steps, but he is still intercepted.

The flip side of the coin is that Pacquaio can be unpredictable, so cutting him off will mean moving into his line of fire, no matter his foot position at the time.

A question for you Bogo : If you were Roach, would you have Pacquaio take the fight to Floyd or (As I would suggest at first) manouver around him, causing Floyd to lead, and over reach (one of his very few bad habbits), and then seek to counter from there?

I'm not bogo, but I think emmanuel would be forced to try taking the fight to Floyd whether he wants to or not.

What particularly stood out to me early on in the trilogy with Juan was how Juan stuck him with the jab to the body a couple of times, agitating him into coming forward. It was as if Juan was mocking him and saying quit acting like you're smart enough to "box" with me. Usually that punch isn't even used on southpaws and a right downstairs is thrown in its place, but emmanuel's squared up stance gives an opening. What we do know about Mayweather is he has one of the best jabs to the body of all time. He's also rangier and quicker with it.

I believe roach or it could have just been some delusional pacfags claimed emmanuel's gameplan was to try countering Juan. That didn't work out so well.

Pac has very little patience in the ring....i think that ultimately is what will lose him this fight....he just becomes too wild...however maybe thats a good thing being in the ring with someone so calculated.

That's exactly the plan I'd prefer. I'd have Manny mix it up between feinting and attacking with fluid movement and combinations with no hesitation or irresponsibility, and in the later half, if he has success, moving laterally to catch Floyd reaching. As you say, it's one of Floyd's few bad habits; if Manny turns him defensively, he could find a spot to catch him, because Floyd doesn't quite always punch at shoulder level (leaving a pocket where his chin can be touched), and can overextend. I think pressuring Manny will be very dangerous for Floyd. Like I said before, even when he was breaking Judah down badly in the last rounds, he would still occasionally eat a hard straight left, and Manny is dangerous even when getting dominated (think round 10 of Marquez-Pacquiao 2).

In reference to what Leon said, I do actually think Manny prepared to counter-punch Marquez and catch him coming in with something big before finishing him. Marquez kept emphasizing a knockout, and they knew he wanted to win decisively, and had been more aggressive in most of his last few fights. But it was folly. Against Floyd, he'd have to be more dynamic and focus on what he does best, but maximize his dimensions. Roach has talked about setting traps before, and it's a good thing to keep in mind. It can never be easy to anticipate when Floyd is going to throw, but perhaps not altogether difficult to guess what he's going to throw at certain moments, due to his calculated style and measured pace. Preparing baits and counters for his most typical attacks would come in handy.

I'm guessing you think Manny can drop Floyd? Because I do.

Pacquiao never lost to JMM and Floyd is too scared to even get inside the ring.

Pac can use his in and out style to swarm Mayweather. He will throw more than 80 punches in round and Floyd will shell like Clottey.

Are you sure he's a *****? He gives emmanuel a greater chance than most, and is one of the few people who think that way yet can give half decent thought out answers for why. He be closer to a ******* than ***** if anything. Don't friendly fire someone helping your cause.:yep

I think Manny could drop Floyd if he catches him from an awkward angle, I see it stunning Mayweather rather than actually hurting him if it's a single shot.

This is Boxing, and at this level which if these two were to fight would have to be considered ATG, anybody is capable of dropping anybody else, I truely believe that, the skills are that high.
