    No.

    There's no longer bordercontrols between the Schengen countries, but you still need a passport as a means of identification to show if asked by authorities. There might be other means of identification papers in certain countries, but passport is the general paper for ID.

    For the sake of clarification in regards to this thread both the UK and Rumania has upheld passport control at it's border despite being members of the schengen agreement.

    No, you don't. A EU member country national ID card is sufficient. A passport is NOT required.

    UK and Romania are not a member of the Schengen agreement. Romania will be this year though.

    You don't know what you're talking about.

    Because you like 7 Coline :lol:. I know about 20 brands of Romanian bears but never heard of 7 Coline who's not commercialized here in large quantities. It would be a challenge to try and find it in the Pubs.

    I can read fine. I understand that the passport is the de facto ID document, however it is not REQUIRED for travel in the EU. A EU national ID card is alll that is required.

    The UK opted out of Schengen :patsch You are confusing Schengen and EU membership. Get a clue!

    A EU national ID card is NOT standard in every country. Hence why passport is the general mean for ID.

    The UK opted out of PARTS of schengen dude.

    Wrong, UK and Ireland opted out of Schengen, UK mainly because they want to maintain their borders.

    They then chose to accept the Schengen Information System, which is just basically sharing data on law enforcement.

    They are in Schengen but only the parts concerning police- and law investigations and information sharing.
