Part of me thinks that DLH's big announcement had to do with Gamboa and then Goldenboy saw that he was under contract and that blew that one up....

In addition.. he is now going to have Roger train him.. which is a good thing in my opinion... but i think he let PBF in his ear too much and turned down a great pay day...

Gamboa is not Mayweather at this point; how much more money was he expecting?

    Two things:

#1 - Gamboa signing with GBP would NOT be earth shaking news, as was promised by DLH.

#2 - How do you know it was Floyd that told him to do this? Gamboa's own lawyer has said they had issues with thier promotional agreement, even prior to the Rios fight. This would have nothing to do with Floyd.

Gamboa sees the bigger picture. He'll be in Mayweather Promotions..

    win win situation.

    lose/win for fans.

DobyZhee, I thought you were a blind hater. However, this post is spot on:deal.

Gamboa, runs a huge risk because Uncle Bob has such a huge stable that he rapes and will blacklist the Cuban. This move has made headlines and could pay off by raising his profile and propel him to superstardom. Yet, he might have made this move to quick because regardless of what you say about bob, he knows how to build a career

Over at the scene of boxing, Rios himself says it.. that he doesn't understand that he the champion is making less than Gamboa and even he is all for this fight....

The Gamboa vs. Rios fight was too good to be true. It was that good a matchup.. No wonder it didn't happen.

No it wasn't. the smaller, more skilled gamboa whom has never fought above 126 vs the bigger hard hitting rios who comes in at around 150 fight night. it would go down like cotto/margo 1. Never liked the fight.

Are you kidding me? Both Gamboa and Rios fight and throw every punch with bad intentions. It was a great matchup no matter who won and however long it lasted

You mean at the weigh in or fight night? I dont remember him ever weighing in over 128? Either way, my point is that gamboa's great talents will be nullified by rios' clear natural size advantage. I dont like the fight.

  12. Agree. Rios too big for Gamboa.

if gamboa turned down 1 million than he realy stupid.

both are very good boxers, but no stars at that point of time.
except hard core boxing fans they both not than known.

gamboa gonne hit the big money vs marquez, a showdown vs broner, when broner himself becomes more famous time after time.

at that stage of his career, 1 millionw as totaly fair.

Floyd said that you're endangering your career fighting Rios. Move up in weight slowly, and you'll gain the weight properly.
