This is what we call the verbosity reaction, or simply - trying too hard. It involves trying to flex your intellectual muscle by using multi-syllabic words that actually make little sense in the context that you have used them.

For example, my previous post would be disingenuous if I was making statements that I cynically did not really hold to be true. It would be duplicitous if we had previously established some sort of friendship or alliance that was betrayed by those words.

As it stands, it is neither disingenuous or duplicitous. As for insidious, a strong word, but I'll let you have it.

Btw, of the 'dribbling malcontents' that posted 'purile' (sic) smiley faces after the comment, one had just complemented you on your education and another is a fellow traveller in red and green. But they're both good honest men and recognise truth when they see it.
