That is the best case scenario legacywise ATM, but in time, Helenius and Mitchell may both be better career defining wins. Valuev is obviously 3rd best of the last decade, and without being able to fight #1, #3, of the past decade, and #3 and 4 of this decade aint bad.....that is if Haye were to unretire after a Vitali fight and compete for a few years. As for SNV.......when Vitali offered him that 1.5 mil last spring and summer, prior to the Adamek fight, Valuev considered it remember. But came out soon after and said he would not fight again or even negotiate for legal purposes surrounding his contract with DKP. That contract expires at the end of this month. I'm crossing my fingers that the 38 y/o Valuev will have a press conference the day after he gets off the phone with the WBA president and secures a mandate with Potvetkin.
Give Chagaev or Ustinov a shot, even try and bring Ibragimov out of retirement. All would be great legacy fights.
1 Haye- This would still be a big fight and Haye would be a live underdog to me. 2 Chambers- He would need a quick tune-up or even two but he would be a great option come fall/winter. With Vitali slowing down Chamber's style could give Vitali fits. He's experienced and has been in with big guys before. 3 Povetkin- Vitali probably beats him but it would be a fairly entertaining fight and Povetkin is one of the highest rated guys in the division, like most I don't think Povetkin would take it. I wouldn't mind seeing him take on one of the followin fighters in 2013, assuming Vitlai is still around, when these guys have a few more fights under their belts. 1 Mitchell 2 Helenius 3 Boystov 4 Pulev 5 Fury
Chagaev and Ibragimov have a much better CV than Haye not to mention Chagaev isn't coming in off a loss. Ustinov vs Vitali would be a war between two giant, iron chinned, ko artists. What's not to like? unless you're a **** of course.
Vitali is not worried about legacy, he had the chance to fight names like Rahman, Holyfield, Tua, Toney, Valuev, but chose to face Kirk Johnson, D. Williams, Sosnowsky.
Haye. If not Haye, probably Huck. Or Povetkin. Or the Pulev/Dimitrenko winner. Beating any of those guys would be a nice sendoff if the next is Vitali's last fight. Chagaev or Tarver if the above names aren't available.
