    Yeah, you are right Chris.

What creates the anomaly is the idea that punch resistance is two-tone.

    1) Physical ability to resist concussive punches.

    2) The ability to absorb the most hurtful punches and return from that brink.

The anomaly might make this premiss seem illogical; but I don't care. The ability not to be knocked unconscious by a huge punch is just that.

Again Tyson's chin was MORE tested... how can anybody argue that?

In the days of 15-rounders, the 8th represented merely the mid way of a fight.
Not sure why Tyson gets so much credit for a great chin from the Lewis fight either.

Sure he absorbed some monster shots, but ended up on hi back.
I think Lewis let him off the hook a couple of times too. Showed him a tad too much respect.

Well, if this is a literal question (i'm presuming it is as you've asked it twice) one could argue that Dempsey was hit with the single hardest punch of the two by Firpo, was hit with the hardest punch whilst hurt, again by Firpo, surived the most devastating KD suffered by either one when he was knocked out of the ring by Firpo.

And that in absorbing and surviving these punches, Dempsey's chin became the more proven of the two, although Tyson may have absorbed 19 of the 20 other hardest punches.

Ummmm I really don't think you can argue that point imo. Not only was Firpo not as proven a puncher as the once Tyson faced, you can't even compare that particular punch on fuzzy/primitive film to one on much higher quality. To say nothing of the fact that variables like.. getting knocked through the ropes.. have other facts that could've made that happened besides OMGZORS FIRPO Hits harder than Lewis.

Well m8 where teh bloody hell did you get that bleedin' bullshite from?? :huh

Some newspaper reports from pro-Dempsey reporter supporters?? :yep

i have seen teh BEST quality video of both And Tunney does NOT mess up Hobo Jack's face at all. And at one point, in teh rematch i think, former 165lber (probably lower really, cos he once fought 126lb Young Guerini) Tunney BADLY BUCKLES Dempsey's twiggy legs (what are like sparrow's kneecaps ) with a single punch!! Imagine Tinkerbell Tyson being whitewashed TWICE by lightheavy Mike Spinks + getting proper badly hurt by him AND getting KTFO cold by a single shot in 1 minute of teh 1st Round by Pete "Cocoon of Horror!" McNeeley (Fireman Jim equiliavent) And LOSING DECISIONS to a ex-flyweight FAT Jung-Koo Chang who ate his way up to heavyweight doing no training or roadwork at all - he would of been called a glass jawed fraud/bum. :deal:deal

I think its the fact he shrugged off open bombs from one of the hardest punchers of all time.

If he shrugged them off, he must have been doing so in a dizzy haze.
Those punches took their toll, and he was on his back inside of 8 rounds.

Because a shell of Mike Tyson took many bombs from a murderous puncher before giving in .. Tyson took bombs from Douglas, Bruno, Ruddock, Smith, Tucker ... he really had a terrific chin .. maybe not a Chuvalo but definitely the next level ..

I agree he had a very good chin.

But getting KO'd by Buster Douglas - when no other top-level contender ever did - is hardly bragging rights for chin.

And lasting less than 8 rounds with Lewis isn't the best bragging rights for chin either. Tyson absorbed some big punches but looked suitably out on his feet for half of the fight.

How many punches did Douglas hit Tyson with?
as he ever connected that many punches on anyone before?

How long would Dempsey last under that kind of beating?

Tyson was out of shape for this fight, its been stated by numerous people for the past 20+ years.

If its good reason to doubt Tysons durability then what about Dempseys against Fireman FLynn? surely it works both ways.

What happened to Dempseys chin when Firpo had him on his ass outside the ring?
